"I will go to any length to achieve my goal. Eternal life is worth any sacrifice."-Zur the Enchanter"

_Fancy _Intro _Header_

I wanted to construct a competitive Zur deck for a long time. My early days in EDH were spent trying to make fun decks, that revolved around my commander. Some were Tribal some were just Chaos, but in the end I was not winning many games. One way to solve this to me was to build a deck completely centered around my General, and have it be as powerful as I could to maximize my impact on the game. I've always imagined the perfect game of EDH to be one where everyone at the table are gunning after me to try to kill me first, and despite the aggression, kill them all. So Zurtard was born.

Game Plan

First off the deck is quite linear, but it has a lot of powerful cards, in which can be tutored with Zur's ability, and this is why I enjoy playing the deck. It's a huge toolbox. In a format with 99 singleton cards being able to find the exact one you need when you need it is really nice.

Step 1: Cast Zur.

Step 2: Search up Diplomatic Immunity with your first attack, if you somehow already have Shroud then Vanishing is the next best thing.

Step 3: Search up Daybreak Coronet or which ever support card you need most at the time. Remember the overall game plan here is to give Zur Vigilance and put a Stasis into play.

Step 4: Just keep pumping Zur, or finding answers to other problems at the table.

Other Useful Things

Solitary Confinement is a great card to buy you time and prevent you from losing a downhill game quick. Paired with Phyrexian Arena or Necropotence and you basically have protection for as long as you need to set up and get back into the game.

Darksteel Mutation and Prison Term can be great cards when you tutor them with Zur. Being able to enchant Hexproof creatures is huge, and since Aura's don't target when they are not "cast" but instead "put into play" then you can do some pretty great things with these 2 cards.

Rest in Peace plus Helm of Obedience is a infinite mill when activated for .

Other than that you pretty much have a whole deck of answers at your disposal, and most of them are able to be tutored by Zur's ability.
