Thought I'd ask the question we've all been waiting for: Do you see this as blue and black or white and gold?
I see it as a very pale royal blue and a strong gold. Tappedout, what do you see?
I came here to avoid the dress because it was all over 9gag. Please no more talk about this damned dress

Ok look, you can put it in Photoshop and examine the colors, it's blue and black (like grey-blue, and bronze black). The reason people perceive it as different colors is based on the amount of light and different colors they were looking at before hand. Don't bring this to tapped out, I don't want this shit

Fucking CNN is covering this non sequitur; non sense. There are more important issues to discuss and worry about than some stupid dress that a Hollywood princess took a picture of.
Children are starving, people are homeless, governments are committing genocide on their people, countries are on the brink of WWIII, yet people are infatuated with a dress. A dress. GFTO with that ish.
Bread and circus.

It is an interesting example of perceptual psychology in action. The dress itself is blue and black but can appear white and gold in certain conditions due to the human brain struggling with colour constancy. Basically whenever you see something your brain has to guess whether it's a dark colour with a lot of light shining off it or a light colour with very little light shining off it. Those who see it as blue have a brain telling them it's a dark dress that's well illuminated, those that see it as white have a brain telling them it's a light dress that's poorly illuminated. Under certain conditions you can ever trick your own brain into switching what you initially saw. Perceptual psychology is fun because it turns out the brain just 'guesses' most of what we see. I really enjoyed the dress debacle because to me it was just a bunch of people freaking out over a basic aspect of human perceptual psychology.

Just to prove how tricked your brain can get. See the below image:
In that image both square A and square B are the same colour. However your brain interprets square B as being a light square in shadow, instead of just a dark square because it essentially sees the block and guesses that the shadow is there. It also guesses that the pattern continues in the same way over the board but it doesn't. This all goes to show how frail our perceptual systems are and raises interesting points about existentialism and our existence, focusing around the extent to which the world does mirror what we see and whether empiricism in science can exist when every little thing we observe and measure is shaped by experience and our brains just well..... Having a guess.

Guys who even gives a fuck. It's a goddamn dress.
Let's focus on the actual problems of the world, of which there are many.

ThisIsBullshit Why focus on the world's problems if we can't do anything to affect them? We can't fix global hunger, but we can argue about the colours of a dress.
