A friend and I are each buying a box of MM2015 with the intent of building decks out of them as a sort of challenge. Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?

Would this be worth it, or would we be better off just drafting? I feel like there's value in opening a booster, and I want to get as much out of it as possible.

I feel like, strictly from an entertainment perspective, you'd have more fun drafting.

It really depends on how much you like drafting. I personally don't like drafting and feel it is a hassle to get 8 people together to draft that you trust enough to handle your unsleeved modern masters cards. I would just build a series of traditional sealed decks and then if you want to, do the whole box sealed thing.

My advice? Play sealed league. Get 4 friends together. Get 6 boosters each, and build 40 card decks out of those. Allocate points for each win (1 point per win, so if A and B play and finish 2-1, A gets 2 points and B gets 1 point).

After everyone has played everyone else, distribute 1 more pack to each person to boost everyone's decks.

Then, head to your LGS and buy a booster pack or two. The winner of the current round gets to choose 1 from the rares/mythics in those packs, but does not get to play with them. After that, exactly 1 card per person is drafted in reverse order of placing (the last person picks first).

With a booster box and an investment of 4 boosters to your LGS or just 1 booster per person (always support your LGS), you will get 3 rounds of one of the best formats of magic.

Remember to pick all the cards that were not picked previously from the prize boosters after the league is over.
