So we can play DoTA together and communicate

Well, there is getting a mic, and getting a good mic. Any mic will do for general communication.

I'm assuming your cousin is on a desktop computer, or else the built in webcam on most laptops is an option. This is one approach you can take; buy a webcam.

Another approach is to buy a $10 mic from Walmart in their computer department.

If you want a higher quality mic, I've hear that the Blue Microphones Snowball is pretty good. This will cost quite a bit more though.

So ya, go with one of blue's products. The yeti is another option for a standing mic. These are often used for semi pro setups for streamers and such.

I've own a few headsets and I have to say, this is by far the best headset I've owned. It envelopes your ears completely. The padding is soft and you can barely tell it's there. A 76$ headset for 35$ is also a plus.

Some important info:

  • it's usb powered. This may be relevant if your cousin doesn't have many usb ports. There might be software, but I just plugged it in, my laptop installed the drivers, and I was ready to go!

  • The cord is long, but comes with a velcro wrap. No need to worry about distance.

  • My old headset could adjust it's own volume, (so it could be soft while a pc's volume was actually at 100), this one adjusts the computers volume, which I found interesting. (Ya know, incase you switch to porn or something and your pc is blasting lol)

  • THERE IS NO WINDSCREEN FUZZY THING. I lossed my last headset's fuzzy, so this made me very happy.

  • There are lights? I don't notice when I play, but there are lights on the outside and on the mic (never noticed really) So if your couz plays in the the dark it might be bad

  • I play counter strike:p

Hope this helped! By far my favorite headset:)

Welcome? I can't tell who that's directed at. Probably not me haha

I've also owned a cheep turtle beach headset for the 360(x12?). It was also very nice. The headset I have is probably marked down a ton because it's not a famous name brand like tb.

Well I gtg work. Happy hunting!

Yes, the Blue Snowball is excellent. I am a broadcast journalist and it's pretty damn good for doing voice overs on news pieces, but I would use it for gaming too, if I cared about quality.

I use the Nessie.
