I absorb death metal of the technical sort into my earholes. Meshuggah, Sorreption, Necrophagist, ect.

How long have we had "the blind eternities" as a forum category..? and why?

8vomit It's basically like where all things go that don't relate to magic.

August 14, 2014 8:30 a.m.

I can't list that, but I range from Jazz to technical death metal to blackened progressive metal to Johnny Cash (he's a genre) to doom metal to folk death metal to minimalistic ambiance.

Pink Floyd

Grateful Dead

Led Zeppelin

Jimi Hendrix

Favorite Song: Ghost Love Score - Nightwish

Favorite Album: Silverthorn - Kamelot

Favorite Group/Artist: This one's a bit harder to choose. I'll listen to Kamelot for a month straight, then Dream Theater for a month straight, then Nightwish for a month straight, and every time I switch I'm thinking "This is the most incredible music ever, how do I ever doubt.." and then I go back to Kamelot again...

Of course there's also Rush, Flyleaf, Egypt Central, Serenia, BFMV, Breaking Benjamin (haven't listened to them in a while), Lacuna Coil, Saga, Evanescence, Saliva, Seether... a lot. Music is one of the larger aspects of my life, so I tend to listen to a lot.

Basically anything that isn't pop crap. I need real instruments playing. As far as bands go, Rise against, All that Remains, atreyu, 36 Crazyfists, Paramore, etc.

August 14, 2014 9:34 a.m.

Anything by Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, and Godsmack. Lacuna Coil is another band I listen to lately thanks to a friend of mine. I also listen to some Metallica from time to time as well as random video game music. That mostly consists of Final Fantasy music and a couple from Killzone.

Oh man, I listen to almost everything! Most commonly, I listen to classical, trance, and movie soundtracks, but I can enjoy any music... Except reggae or country. I've tried countless times, but it hurts me in my soul and I can't explain it.

I've been called a musical vagabond because I don't ever remember names of anything I listen to, but I know when I've heard a song before.

I listen to a lot of progressive rock, but I also very much enjoy punk, skacore, black metal, hip hop, synthpop and some other stuff. I guess some of my favorite albums would be:

King Crimson - In the Court of the CrimsonKing (haha) (Progressive Rock - 1969) -- It's so heavy compared to what you'd typically hear coming out of the late 60s. Easily one of my favorite albums of all time.

King Crimson - Starless and Bible Black (Progressive Rock, 1974)

Skeletonwitch - Beyond the Permafrost (Black/Thrash Metal, 2007)

Ghost B.C. - Opus Eponymous (Heavy Metal - 2010) -- A genre label really doesn't do these guys justice, just give them a listen.

Gentle Giant - Giant for a Day (Progressive Rock, 1978)

Depeche Mode - Violator (Electronic, 1990)

Operation Ivy - Energy (Punk/Skacore, 1989)

Flogging Molly - Within a Mile of Home (Punk/Folky, 2004)

NOFX - Coaster (Punk, 2009)

Skatalites - The Skatalite! (Ska, 1969) - Highly recommend most albums from this band, great Jamaican ska.

A range from jazz to indie rock to all forms of metal.

No obscene genres from me. Music, particularly metal, has started to devolve into each band describing themself with their own, made up genre, and then people go around parading these as reasons to listen to them.

And I could honestly care less. If it sounds good, it sounds good.

August 14, 2014 12:19 p.m.

I like indie rock, alternative rock, and classic rock mostly.

Surprised at how many people like metal here......

August 15, 2014 9:37 a.m.

I'm relieved to see so many metal fans on this site. I thought ChiefBell and I would be the only ones.

Anyway, most of the metal I listen to comes from overseas. In no particular order:

Amon Amarth

Wintersun

Eluvietie

Amorphis

Dimmu Borgir

Behemoth

Immortal

Ensiferum

Sabaton

Vildjharta

Periphery

Stuff like that. I really can't stand listening to happy or pop music. It just seems boring and incomplete to me.

No, I used to like metal but grew bored with it. It's alrite. I don't dislike it - it's just very repetitive and I find the scene really dull.

Jazz is king, 'Cause jazz is the thing. Folks. Dig. Best!
Now that's Jazz.

"looks at list" oh... gee ... what do I choose? I tried really hard to limit this list a bit. A song that may have been on my favourite songs list would have been removed if it was low enough and already in an album or a one of my artists.

My criteria for favourite songs are as follows:

1. Jazz? Now that's Jazz.

2. Is it epic? Songs that make you wanna do something unthinkably awesome.

3. Nostalgic? It's the reason why there is so much japanese songs and soundtracks, it's all from my childhood.
