I dunno that I made too big of an impact around here, but of grown fond this community :) I'm gonna be a missionary for my church for two years, so I won't be around here for a long time. I thought I might let y'all know if anyone cared, but it's whatev. I'll be back, y'all play nice now :)

DERPLINGSUPREME - Kinsey coined the term in 1948, I believe, when describing the habits of islanders' around Papua New Guinea. He saw the islanders mocking the position and, assuming they had been taught it by the white missionaries that had arrived to colonise the island, referred to it as the missionary position in his book on the people of the tribe. However he misunderstood the context surrounding the islanders' mocking and mistranslated a few bits here and there and therefore it turns out he was actually the first person to refer to the position as the missionary position. He thought he was describing an old phenomenon, but due to his mistakes he just totally made it up.
It's now common (incorrect) knowledge that the missionary position is so named because it was taught by the Catholic church as the "correct" way to have sex when white dudes went around the world colonising everything. This was Kinsey's view. This isn't true though. It was made up by mistake by him.
