How do you get your mind of MTG?

These days all I can think about is MTG. Wherever I am I start thinking about deck ideas, the last Pro Tour, investments, etc. This has not been a problem, but recently it has been affecting my performance in Tennis. While I am on the court I try my hardest to concentrate on the game but in the 10-20 seconds in between the points my mind instantly drifts back to MTG. As the point begins I'm still thinking about what adjustments to make to my deck or some other MTG related thing. My mind is thinking about something completely different than tennis and I get destroyed by people that I can usually beat. I have important tryouts this week and I can't let MTG distract me so now I am asking: What do you do when you have to do something important and you can't let MTG distract you?

That's called an addiction, and isn't necessarily an easy fix. Worst comes to worst you have to treat it like an addiction, an go through recovery. You have to build towards the event, and replace stray thoughts with productive, utility thoughts.

Focus.

Every little action you do in tennis, watch it. Examine it. Obsess over every thing you do.

Keeping your focus on all the little things will help you keep your mind on the overall game.

It's the same reasoning we shuffle our hands during an opponents turn: it keeps us focused on the game.

You have an obsession that could verge on addiction. You need to try your best to avoid mtg. That's literally the only way.

Pretty competitive tennis player here when I'm not injured, and I know what you mean. Try taking a week's break from it.

School/work. If I find myself being too distracted, I put my cards somewhere where they're safe but not visible, close my laptop, and try to focus on my work. I know that I can reward myself with something possibly MTG-related once the things I need to do are done (although lately that doesn't seem to happen...).

For that time you do splurge on hobbies, try to put them towards a different hobby. Get MTG out of your system for a while.

I'd take a Brake (even a month) of mtg. Give your cards to someone who you can trust with them.
