Spootyone I'm actually loving Jeskai. Fire, Lightning, ghosts, angels.....counterspells hahahaha

I still think anyone who gets annoyed by counterspells should be forced to play with them. It really opens your mind doing so. Personally, I don't NEED to be running them, but whenever I can feasibly play simic or bant or some other G/U/X deck I'm happy to bring in a couple counterspells and tempo spells like Cyclonic Rift .

Spootyone tonight was seriously the first time in the 8 years i've played that i've ever played one. I understood at that moment why people do it....

I don't hate Counterspell s, I just have no interesting in casting them. I'm more than playing my role as big dumb green mage, Mistcutter Hydra bro!

I play everything BUT blue, though a Bant exalted deck is something I've been toying with making...if Noble Heirach wasn't so expensive for no reason. Great card, but damn lol

It sees play in many relevant decks, that why it's spendy.

Yeah, I researched as I've only been playing since Avacyn. I've gone backwards to old stuff that I liked and Alara block just looked amazing. She in particular is an amazing one drop. I can always build without her until the day I can get them.

Blue is generally just boring to me. I understand the necessity of it and respect what it does, I just don't enjoy doing it. I like to deal with things when they are there in front of me with board wipes and kill spells, not just stopping my opponents from using their spells.
Also, I don't think anyone should truly hate counter spells. You can hate having your spells countered, sure, nobody likes being told no. But to hate such an integral part of the game would be like hating damage. It's just not practical.
Oh, one last thing. Congratulations on finding a new deck you enjoy. Always a happy experience.

I like flexible creature decks. A good mix of Spell and things to hit people with and the ability to protect them. It's always kinda been that way. I'm still working on the "practical" part of spell casting as i'm overall pretty careless about WHEN I cast things. For example, it's compulsory for me to answer any opponents creatures with burn IMMEDIATELY and I often waste too much mana on my own turn due to that.
I am a very impulsive person. I fidget a lot and my mind can be....erratic to say the least when I consider things, often not staying very much on track so during games, I get heavily distracted by like, the artwork on my own cards and end up missing something.
This new deck is teaching me to overall play slower. I'm playing a slower deck to teach myself to better make choices. I also have a playset of Lightning Helix and it pissed me off that they sat around....now i just need to switch MMA art for RAV.....yep i'm off track

The only time I play blue is when I play a combo deck. Just to protect the combo, and occasionally keep from dying. I personally like to have fun when playing Magic, so permission decks suck. While I do occasionally play some control, it's generally more active than the average UW deck. Call me crazy, but I like to actually do stuff when I play the game. Like Blightning . That is a fun card to play.

Jon Finkel said it best.
"Play Blue, you noob."
What a glorious and wise man.

This is coming from a sole control player... You will appreciate the dark side. Do you know how amazing it is to counter everything the opponent does and then win on turn 30? And the control mirrors are a different kind of fun... BWAHAHAHHAHA.
I do have a confession to make though... I betrayed control. I just built Rabble Red for standard... Crushed everyone at FNM, and LOVED IT! Playing fair just feels weird :/

I've been meaning to ask. Is geist worth using in jeskai midrange anymore?
September 7, 2014 8:28 p.m.
Not the full 4 VampireArmy, but maybe 2-3. Restoration Angel , Snapcaster Mage , Vendilion Clique and the huge amount of burn spells are usually enough to put away a game. Geist is just there to get damage through and cant be killed by spot removal.

Ah Esper. How strong your sideboard is. How cheap your removal is. How easily it is to get your combos and win conditions out really quickly. How easy it is to swap to midrange with you.

I tried designing a creature deck the other day, and when i ran out of ideas i started putting counterspells in... I can't seem to stop doing that
