Ideas For My Thirtieth Birthday

In less than one week, I shall turn twenty-nine, so I am only a year away from celebrating my thirtieth birthday, an idea that bothers me, since I am no longer as young as I once was, and it is a reminder that I will not be young, forever.
However, that does not mean that I will not enjoy my birthday, and I am planning to do something special for such a significant milestone, but I am deliberating what, exactly, I shall do, so I would like to see if any of the other users here have any suggestions.
I am considering going to someplace quiet and scenic, away from any major cities, such as somewhere in New Hampshire or Maine, or possibly going on a cruise of the Caribbean or some other place. I wish to keep my expenditure to under $1,000, or under $500, if that is possible, so that may limit my options.
What does everyone else say about this? Do you have any suggestions on what I could do to celebrate my thirtieth birthday?

If you're looking for a quiet and/or warm destination, here's my recommendation:
Arizona is one of the most enjoyable places I've been. Easy flights if you're near a major airport (I know that both Baltimore and Boston have reasonably-priced direct flights to Phoenix, if they're near you). It's quiet if you want it to be and warm (combining two aspects of the places you've mentioned), plus it's dry. I personally prefer dry to humid.
I went with my family for a week in March - we landed/stayed in Phoenix for a few days, then drove north and stayed in Sedona for a few more days. Had an incredible dinner at a Latin-inspired grill, if you'd like a restauraunt recommendation. Also was a doable (but long) drive up to the Grand Canyon for a day.
Just be warned that it is hot as hell in July, so staying towards the north of the state (Flagstaff, might be better this time of year.

like duct tape said Arizona is a nice place the people there are super friendly. But as far as the cruise option goes i went on one and i didnt have to spend a single cent on anything i didnt want to. But the ship i was on had a ton of shopping on it but they had $1000 watches for $400-$600 $80 bottles of cologne for $40. My family's biggest expense was booze. Me and my cousin had a blast. also we got to have our first legal drink at 18 in the Bahamas.And happy 29th birthday

I agree with Arizona. I went to the Grand Canyon (exactly a year ago, in fact), and it is something that you muse see. Although, I agree with ducttapedeckbox, it is incredibly hot in July (104 in Phoenix, 70-90 on the rim, and 103 on the river), so just be careful, and drink lots of water.
@shadow63,
What cruise line did you take? I prefer Norwegian, as I just took a cruise last month. However, I'd reccomend staying on a smaller ship. It's more expensive, but you get more personal service.

Royal Caribbean the ship was massive on the outside but you couldn't get to most of the ship so it was a manageable size on the inside

You could go with a few friends to a picturesque restaurant in the countryside and enjoy a good meal with them.
