Has anyone seen this film?
I just saw it and thought it was fantastic.
Many people have said it has pacing issues, poor dialogue and other issues, but honestly I really enjoyed it.
Hans zimmer is on top form, the material is decent, the film is based in science but rips up the rules and makes up some fantastical new possibilities (I like that).
Has anyone else seen it?
Not yet, I am really looking forward too it though. Space and interdimentional travel? Yes yes and yes.
The trailer had me stoked as hell

I really liked the movie, and it actually did a pretty good job following the physics (except for the 20 year:1 hour thing, that was a little exaggerated). But overall, I really liked it. And for the record, I called the ending.
Spoiler Warning
I whispered to my friend sitting next to me halfway through "He sends himself, calling it now" lol

I didn't really see it going THAT deep into the whole thing. It surprised me when they brought in that element.

The whole movie was super good up until

they reach the black hole. I'm sorry, but you can't just say "We're going into a black hole now" and expect everything to be fine to the characters. There's creative liberty, then there's just altering science (Which you didn't really do at all up to this point [Exclusion: Love travels through dimensions, blegh]) because you don't have a better way to deliver your plot. If someone reaches the event horizon of a black hole, they should be immediately torn to shreds, not dive straight to the center. It really seemed like an "Oh crap, this movie is too long" move, and the end just seemed forced.

Otherwise, everything was really nice. The camera work was much better than, say, Gravity with the consistent face shots, and the movie overall was just very pleasing from a filmmaker's standpoint. I liked the overall plot, I liked the lighting, I liked the character / actor selection.
Overall grade, 7.5/10.

Yeh that was the bit that was really 'meh'. I sorta hoped he did die in that moment but that the end was the same - just without him. Oh well. I mean technically no one can observe or measure what does happen so from a scientific perspective we can't rule out the possibility that you DON'T die. Thats like how evidence works haha.
What did everyone think of the subtext of the film being that a lot of science is about blind faith. The idea that we have faith in scientific principles that we can't see, measure, or definitively prove but we cling to these as vehemently as some do to religion. Did anyone else feel that message?

I really enjoyed the movie a lot. There wasn't any critique I had except for the black hole part. I had some trouble with that part.

ChiefBell faith is to a degree all we as humans have at this point. There's a vast universe out there we have to explore. I'd like to think of movies like this as perhaps guesses as to what's to be found out there. Obviously a little on the dramatic side but look at all the things out there that were once considered only science fiction.

Necrosis the fuck outta this thread because I just saw it and as a huge Sci-fi buff this rustled my jimmies. So fucking COOL

Lmao, I think I made it on time.
But seriously, This movie had me buzzing for a while after I saw it. It was just everything I expected/wanted in a sci-fi film and Hans KILLED it with the soundtrack.

I have seen it and it really does well to take very high level scientific concepts and spin them with artistic form. It also was very telling of what society could turn into. Without space programs with the teacher claiming the text books are wrong and the moon landing being a lie
