Just have to get something off my chest

Starting tomorrow I will officially be a high school science teacher, and I have never been so nervous about something in my life. Friends and family don't really seem to understand how nerve racking this is. I just needed to voice my nerves in a medium outside of my friends and family. Thanks for being an outlet for me.

They wouldn't have given you the job if they can't see you have the cojones for it! Be honest and strong and you will do great :)

Don't worry, you'll do fine

Being a student myself, we sense your nervousness and we share similar feelings. Best of luck to you!

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement.

@McSleuthburger my focus is in biology, but I do have a chemistry class on top of my biology classes.

Good luck, and don't sweat the small stuff!Remember, once you have the curriculum down it'll be a breeze to redo next semester!

If you are going to hit them, use a phone book. It doesnt leave any marks if you do it right and the evidence can be burnt.

I have a lot of respect for people who are willing to stand up in front of a class and teach. I had a roommate who was a teacher, so I've seen how much work it is. I wish you all the best with your new career.

LeaPlath that actually made me laugh.

Again I want to thank everyone above for the encouragement. It was a rough first day, but if magic has taught me anything it's some games are just going to suck regardless. You just have to shuffle up and deal out a new hand.

Bovine073 I will try not to fail you with getting bad jokes in.

SaberTech it is a lot of work I spent nearly 6 hours outside of actually teaching planning things and printing things. It's insane the amount of things they don't tell you when going into the field.

Yep. And I've heard people say they want to be teachers because they want to get Summer off, but if you are dedicated to what you do a lot of the summer gets eaten up planning new lesson plans and course material. Or you end up working another job through the summer. Teaching isn't for the faint of heart, and there are going to be some long hours grading papers and writing report cards.

Like I said before, I wish you all the best in your new career. Teaching is a tough gig, and the High School level isn't necessarily the easiest jumping-in point. But you're right, if MtG teaches you anything it's that sometimes you get a rough hand so you just have to run with it and be ready to shuffle up and try again.

It's a bit ironic though. You go to university and study education to be a teacher, just to come out of it to find they didn't teach you about some pretty relevant aspects of the job.

you're gonna be a cool teacher just like the Professor from Tolarian Community College....or at least like he was. he was recently laid off from the college.
