The thing that confuses me is his flipping of opinion. First it sounds like he is argueing for a card and then bang, he's calling it crap. But you just can't win with some people.

I've formally challenged the fool to beat me in competitive modern with his "tech". If all goes according to plan, he gets his teeth kicked in and you all get to watch - i'll make a big spectacle about it if it goes down. I'm a little torn on this issue. On the one hand I believe that we as a community shouldn't insult a member and discuss him behind his back. On the other hand he has simply refused guidance. I'm not saying conformity is necessary, but, when he asks for help and is given help he shouldn't begin insulting players who are much more experienced than him.
I mean, I've gone on plenty of rants and have made an ass of myself (see last week), but... there is a limit. If the threads were kept to a minimum I'd be much more lenient, however lately it has been egregious. Not only that, but he seems to be setting a trend as I've seen some pretty questionable threads, though made by actual people who are civil and are clearly willing to learn.
I've already asked Epochalyptikabout talking to him about his behaviour, but I fear I may have crossed a line in doing so. Either way, I would greatly appreciate Epochalyptik's or ChiefBell's opinion on the matter (I don't know any other Moderators). I do believe something must be done to curb the recent events, but I do not know what needs to be done. Again I will stress that I believe it would best if we left him to his own devices. That being said we should also try to avoid talking about him. I know it is a frustrating situation, but it is one that we need to move past. How we proceed is currently uncertain, but proceed we must.

CanadianShinobi, I would have similar thoughts if not for the fact that he keeps insisting that he has some sort of role in WOTC or something similar. Were it not for those ridiculous claims, I would show patience and empathy. But he does, so I don't.

The only issue that I have with him is that he is continuously spamming the forums with mindless dribble after being asked several times to stop.
Like, I know that it's not ok to shittalk people behind their back, which is why I decided to challenge him to a public spectacle.

I have to say I agree with CanadianShinobi's statement. Guys, its not up to us to "knock him down a notch".
The internet is a place where many people congregate. And at the end of the day we don't know a what's going on in other's lives unless they share. IM could be a 12 yr old kid who thinks they're the shit, or could be somebody lonely trying to reach out but not having the social skills to do so. Or could have a mental condition. You just don't know.
I agree that it's frustrating sometimes, but targetting a particular user and ripping them to shreds behind their back is not a good response. And its definately not a mature response. Not to mention, sometimes we act like Just MORE Chatting is a privtae thread. It's not. Any user can read what's being written, even the person who's being talked about.
Just something to mull over.

I've tried to contact IM directly about our opinions of him, but he has never responded to me. I have tried to be constructive, but that just doesn't seem to work. If we could get everyone to collectively ignore him that would be best I feel, but I don't think that's a reasonable expectation to be honest.

While I, as a fair faith'd Christian man, can fully get behind treating everyone as equal regardless of received treatment, We are merely trying to set some examples of what is and is not acceptable behavior in society. In challenging him as we have (Well, i'll just talk for myself here), I am just trying to point out that words have meaning; that the things you say effect how others look at and treat you, that you can't talk a big game without a shred of evidence that you can back it up. If he can't back up his words, it is in my hope that he takes it as a lesson that he can't be boasting with nothing to boast about. It's not about taking him down a peg, it's about attempting to teach him life lessons that he clearly hasn't received yet.

Im not trying to pick on him or tear/put him down. But Im kinda.. hoomong.. Im not above a chuckle if someone chooses to make fool of themselves in a public place..
I am legitimately trying to help him by linking the primers and what not to him though.. Not that I believe any of its getting through either.
Though it is kinda personal in a way... the deck archtype hes trying to build is the one that made Wilt-Leaf Liege shoot from 13$ to 29$.. :( I wanna see him succeed with it if hes gonna do it.
I respect Jacob Wilson for being awesome.. but Shakes Fist at Jacob Wilson :P

ThatJunkMage: I do get where you're coming from. It can be annoying as hell. I've had my fair share of rants. I just want to make sure everybody keeps a level head about it, thats all. I've seen where things go when people get fired up all too many times, and a decent chunk of those are from my own personal experience. Boy, do I have some stories :P
