Again, I don't have a particular favorite. It depends on how I'm feeling. In general, I like burgers, soups, curries, lobster, and beef wellington.
April 24, 2015 12:25 p.m.
Also, does anyone have a links to the first "Just Chatting" thread?
April 24, 2015 12:26 p.m.
So Epoch, is there anything you have a favorite of? Song? Place? Tapped Out user who's username starts with the letter S?

So I have figured out that Grixis control is like REALLY weak to burn.
LIKE TREMENDOUSLY SO.
The decks for the Abzan version and the burn version are drastically different, as I'm siding in like, 11 cards to face burn.
April 24, 2015 12:34 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #8
No, I'm siding in 13 cards. Everything but the slaughter pacts go in >.<

Burn is so good lol
I'm contemplating switching to legacy though, I'm kinda sick of how stale Modern is right now.

Have you seen where they drive around, and get #1 hamburger meal? So good.

I also think modern is stale, which is why i love edh.

I lost against enduring dragon combo last night over a reeeeeeeally stupid misplay on my part
April 24, 2015 12:51 p.m.
Modern is only stale if you play a bad deck. It isn't boring if you almost always win. : )
April 24, 2015 12:51 p.m.
Modern is amazing right now whether you win or lose. We have twin, burn, affinity, junk, jund, little kid junk, scapeshift, bloom, tron, delver. Even merfolk has been doing well. It's awesome. The meta is super fresh. Sometimes I'm seeing these cool little collected company decks. Sometimes I'm seeing these fun enchantress decks. It's really good.
April 24, 2015 1:04 p.m.
Well whatever the case may be, i find that each game of modern i play i become increasingly more bored.

When I drink, I am not long online before I am passed out. All the good stuff happens before I am able to get online.

ChiefBell, have you seen my Collected Company Bant Bears list?
And I agree that the meta is really boring. Both Burn and Junk are really boring to play against. At least my Grixis control makes them marginally more interactive and fun.

Femme_Fatale says... #24
All junk does is sit back, pelt you with discard and a removal piece here and there, and slowly bring out tokens or a goyf or two. It's worse than a casual mean greenie beatdown player playing against mono-U control in EDH.

i just discovered pucatrade. spent the last day or so indexing several thousand cards on there. its amazing being able to liquidate commons, uncommons, and junk rares and slowly accumulate enough points to get legit value cards. hell one guy traded enough cards to save up for a lotus and a couple moxes. so awesome.

also i just found out that this year I'm up for a 4 week paid sabbatical from work, plus they're giving me my choice of diamond earrings, diamond necklace, mountain bike, some other random shit, or a travel reward card that has a choice of 1 vacation package. example vacation package.
its been a damn good day so far :D
April 24, 2015 1:43 p.m.
AngryBearTony says... #27
How on earth does a mountain bike compare to diamonds and vacations?
April 24, 2015 1:46 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #28
I'd buy the some other random shit. Jewelry is not for me.

hadn't actually clicked on it till now. looks like its built to order - they ask for height and pant length of the rider.
April 24, 2015 1:49 p.m.
Because a good mountain bike costs more than a diamond ring. MUCH more...
April 24, 2015 1:49 p.m.

yea none of it appeals to me honestly. gave my girlfriend the option of the earrings, necklace, or a vacation.

I really like modern, personnaly and I'm not bored of it yet! :>
I dunno what it looks like to play a Junk deck, nor why Junk decks are good decks. It's just a bunch of good cards put together, without any interesting interactions. I mean, the only synergy you can find in those decks are Tarmo or Ooze+hand disruption. That's what I call a deck boring AF... :<
But yeah, I don't know why most of my decks are pretty resilient to that midrange stuff. x-o
April 24, 2015 1:59 p.m.
grumbledore says... #34
to me junk looks like the 'answers for damn near everything' deck. its resilient as shit. it doesn't have a lot of synergy between its individual components, but it can handle quite a lot of the meta. that said, i don't play it lol. hell, i took grixis mill to the last modern pptq i went to. didn't win, but had a lot of fun.

Quick social question.
Why do people who believe that they are doing no wrong resist arrest?
Like if you did something wrong that's another matter entirely but...
April 24, 2015 2:28 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #36
I think I finally found the balance between RDW, Abzan and twin. With my RDW's match-up being the weakest pre-and-post sideboard. Even with 2 Spellskites, 2 Wurmcoil Engines, 2 Miren, the Moaning Wells, 3 Dragon's Claw and 4 Elixir of Immortality.

Just walked an hour to my local game shop in anticipation of kicking off a modern tournament only to find that there's not going to be any tournaments today :/ Apparently the game shop owners advertised the wrong thing.

Ohthenoises says... #39
But seriously, do people think that resisting will help at all? Do they think that they are going to get away/win a fight? All it does is make you look like an idiot...
April 24, 2015 2:35 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #40
It's because they are innocent that they resist arrest Ohthenoises. No one wants to go to jail and have any form of marker on them. And no one especially wants to be falsely accused guilty.
April 24, 2015 2:35 p.m.
Ohthenoises says... #41
But as someone who works in courts, police stations and the like I have a bit more insight.
It's much better to just be taken in and then explain yourself. If a cop is trying to arrest you no amount of resistance is going to make him let you go..... The harder you resist, the more you get nailed for.
I don't understand how that's a hard concept.
April 24, 2015 2:37 p.m.
Yeh it is always better to just go in and explain yourself. Unless you've like, murdered someone.
April 24, 2015 2:38 p.m.
Ohthenoises says... #43
ChiefBell Yeah, I mentioned that in the original question.
I see these youtube videos where these people are fighting and yelling "why are you arresting me!? What am I being charged with!"
Do people not understand that they have 24 hours to charge you? They don't have to charge you to detain you.
April 24, 2015 2:41 p.m.
Well there does have to valid reason or suspicion otherwise it's a bit ridiculous. You can be arrested on suspicion of X but not be charged for 24 hours.
I think these controls are in place because some polive officers are dicks and it's dangerous giving a lot of power to someone that's morally questionable. That's not to say most are like that though.
April 24, 2015 2:43 p.m.
VampireArmy says... #45
To my knowledge they can't just detain you for no reason either though the best thing is to ask if you are being detained. If no then wish them a good day and request to be on your way. If so, ask on what grounds and go from there. Politeness is key. I dunno seems right to me

Femme_Fatale try some Chalice of the Void Elixir is good but it shuffles back in, you don't need 4.
April 24, 2015 2:45 p.m.
As I said above. You can be detained on suspicion of doing something. If it turns out to be wrongful you can pursue legal action.
April 24, 2015 2:46 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #48
I'm willing to bet that it's largely a hostile response to perceived police abuse of force, unlawful or unwarranted action, or corruption.
For example, there are a lot of videos on YouTube of people filming police and getting forced away or arrested for doing so. Filming police is a legal action, so people obviously resist the idea that they can be arrested for it, and that translates to them resisting the arrest itself.
Not saying they're in the right, but it's probably the way they justify it.
April 24, 2015 2:51 p.m.
APPLE01DOJ says... #49
I've been through my share of being arrested. The more civil you are the better results you get usually. Sometimes they treat you abusively like shit for no reason at all. One time I was pulled out of the back of a vehicle while sleeping slammed around with cuffs on way too tight. That sucked and you read that right I was arrested while sleeping so I didn't provoke a damn thing. I've also been almost shot for unbuckling my seatbelt :/
Lol while were kinda on the subject, just got a letter from my homie locked up in Texas. Don't get locked up in Texas. He's been in jail 6 months and hasn't even had his arraignment yet.

I think you guys are missing a huge component of the issue. Many communities of color feel that that are unfairly targeted and harassed on a daily basis by police. If you are a law abiding citizen, and you are being stopped and frisked on a daily basis on your commute home, your willingness to "comply" and "cooperate" can run out.
This is why you see people resist. It is the culmination of decades of "broken windows" philosophy of policing, where you have the police rigorously enforcing small time offences in the theory that it prevents larger offenses.
Its the trickle down economics of law enforcement theory.
