Also consider that from an economic point of view, "broken windows" enforcement is a revenue driver, as it essentially becomes a poverty tax.

Except that trickle down economics doesn't really work?

I'm joking. I completely see your point. Riling against systematic abuse is legit.

UrbanAnathema That's all well and good but it's because of the people that resist that people get frisked.

In the army we had a saying: "Police your buddies". If I saw a peer doing something wrong I'd get him to stop before authority saw him. The reason for this is in the army we didn't punish the one, we punished the many.

If I screwed up my whole platoon would get in trouble and smoked (forced physical exercise).

Now, I'm not saying that we should run our lives like a army base because that's not a democracy, that's a dictatorship. However, I'm simply saying that if you see Bobby about to resist the police then you tell him to shut his mouth and be polite before he gets you both in the back of a squad car.

I guess that's why I don't understand. After spending years helping to police my peers (as they police me) seeing people doing stupid shit like resisting arrest just is beyond my comprehension.

It's the fact that it shuffles it back in that I want all 4 APPLE01DOJ. Because the re-shuffle means that I have a higher chance of drawing it again, which is what I want. Beyond that it is like resetting my deck, without 4-7 or so lands. So the chances of drawing anything non-land is high.

Admittedly, they don't do anything against abzan or twin etc, but I need something main to try and have some semblance against RDW.

However, Chalice of the Void is a good suggestion, just one that is a little difficult to use against RDW. Trying to put it down for 1 is generally too late to stop the 1 cmc spells, and they can easily just remove then with all the artifact hate they have. Trying to put it down for 2 is too risky, as that takes 4 mana and I would most likely be dead by that time

Ohthenoises I think your understanding of what these communities are experiencing is backward. Here in NYC, stop and frisk has been the policy of law enforcement for decades. This policy essentially means that for ANY REASON that a police officer may think that someone may be carrying a weapon, that they can stop and frisk the suspect.

95% of these stops resulted in no weapons being found. Communities that are high in crime, tend to be poorer communities of color, and this is where these policies are implemented. (No one is stopping and frisking anyone on Wall Street.)

As a result, you have had young men of color being REPEATEDLY stopped and patted down over a period of decades day in and day out, based on nothing but the "feeling" of a police officer, who is usually white, and not even a resident of NYC, much less your neighborhood.

It shouldn't be beyond your comprehension, that this kind of thing would foster resentment and resistance from these communities if sustained over a period of time. Thats what we have seen.

April 24, 2015 3:12 p.m.

UrbanAnathema says... #6

Again, its not like these are people who have been caught committing a crime, and then are being frisked before being arrested. Noone has a problem with that.

What people have a problem with is a policy of stopping people who are committing NO CRIME and repeatedly subjecting them to violating actions designed to make them feel like criminals.

If this kind of thing were happening in affluent neighborhoods, it wouldn't be tolerated for a week, much less 20 years.

I think you missed my point about police your buddy but that's fine, I'm not here to change minds, or argue, at all. Just information.

Thanks for thoughts everyone.

April 24, 2015 3:17 p.m.

UrbanAnathema says... #8

Not trying to argue. I think that obviously self-policing for both individuals and communities is a good idea and should be encouraged. I'm merely pointing out that there is just a lot more going on with regard to the state of the relationship between communities of color and law enforcement in this country, than someone "resisting arrest".

From a purely rational standpoint, sure resisting arrest is likely a poor choice. However viewed in the larger historical context, rationality isn't the only prism which this issue should be viewed.

That's an article that will get a lot of love from the users. :>

Chief apparently disapproves of budget decks.

April 24, 2015 7:27 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #29

I don't disapprove. They're generally just 'eh'. Some of the most fun I have is with budget decks but they lose a lot.

April 24, 2015 7:30 p.m.

Confirmation. But when they do win, it's very satisfying seeing your opponent's face decompose as you just beat their deck with one a tenth of it's value.

April 24, 2015 7:31 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #31

Chief loves them. Just guessing that he is being realistic in his expectations.

April 24, 2015 7:34 p.m.

Chief, would it be acceptable to s***post just to get to 200? THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME XD

Well yes of course they're not top tier but we all can't drop $800 on a deck.

Sorry my friends, but this is mine!

Once again, I d'like to thank you all for this wonderful achievement that is making it two times in a row being the 10,000th comment on this page. And, at this point, many users might wonder: why am I doing this? Well, I'm doing this not because it is easy, but because it is hard.

It's a combinaison of extreme typing talents, along with patience, and luck (after all, only one post in 10,000 is the 10,000th! Take this, probability!). So, upon this 200th page, I d'like to inaugurate the start of a new era: THE NINJA LLAMA ERA!

April 24, 2015 7:41 p.m.
