I think this is a bit better then a chat room. I think a chat room would only be productive with a way to play attached. Like untap. I think this would drive more traffic, and benefit the site more.

Chat rooms would sort of erase the need for forums on here. The site's community is based on forums. If we have one chat room we would have to regulate what sort of stuff people can talk in it, otherwise it would be either filled with us talking shit, or people advertising decks. This would require multiple chat rooms then, and would kinda destroy a large function of the forums.

That's because you've become a slave to the synergy of the deck. It should be a control deck first and synergy second but you've become so obsessed with the idea of the individual pieces that you're really just creating a lopsided pile of synergys. It happened to my mardu deck when i tried to do aristocrats. Now it's happening to you

No. I didn't get anything in trades the few days before so I didn't even bother.
Just as well, my bant blink deck has changed far too much to have made those trades worth while.
This Mulldrifter build is actually quite powerful. I decided to remove the akroma's though for testing. See how far this takes me.

So, what are peoples' thoughts of Monastery Mentor in Modern? Specifically in a tempo deck. Aside from "Dies to Lightning Bolt".

CanadianShinobi Not very good IMO. The problem is that you need to be able to play stuff on the turn you play the mentor to be able to get any kind of value out of it.
The only spells that let you do that are the phyrexian spells. Mutagenic Growth, Noxious Revival, Marrow Shards, Gitaxian Probe, etc.

You have to wait to play it in a tempo build. It doesn't come down on turn 3, it comes down on turn 4 or 5. Unless you have some Gitaxian Probes or some other 0 cmc card like Paradise Mantle or Mutagenic Growth or Surgical Extraction. So it is much more slower than most people expect. However it is very powerful as it can be hard to Pyroclasm and creates an army all on its own.

It's ... eh ... It works in standard because of Gods Willing and Valorous Stance and how pricy the removal is in standard (average 1-2 more cmc higher), but with removal being in the 1-2 cmc in modern you can't really protect it too much. I'd say stick it in as a 2 of for a tempo build. There's someone else on here that has a beastly Jeskai tempo build that uses FRF's jeskai double strike guy, and the rebound effects. I can't remember who made it, but it is pretty high up there in votes. Around 100 I think.

I tried a list with Puresteel Paladin and Monastery Mentor inspired by Femme_Fatale.. I didnt have much luck with consistency though. :(
Mostly cause I didnt think it would do to well with Spoils of the Vault in a burn/abzan heavy meta.. (It turned into puresteel storm/cheerios reboot.)
Hope it becomes viable someday, I love that cards potential. o.o

Hows the interface on Untap btw? I peeked in once and saw a game you were in. (though it seems like it was during a pause or something...)
Just kinda wary of getting into it.. Not very adept with things like cockatrice and all.

Untap is really easy. You only need the mouse. You just have to learn where things are. You can do a solo game and just practice. Be wary that games lag out and the shuffler is pretty shit (if you shuffle more than once especially). You start to learn the little kinks here and there. I strongly recommend you support $15 to the site so that you can use the 2nd server (which is much faster).
