My girlfriend and I are working on Naya midrange. You have really strong threats in Spellbreaker Behemoth and Boartusk Liege. The perfect curve for her at the moment is:
T1 Wild Nacatl
T2 Qasali Pridemage, swing for 4.
T3 Woolly Thoctar, swing for 5.
T4 Boartusk Liege, swing for 14.
The beauty of the deck? You have access to Lightning Bolt, Atarka's Command, and Path to Exile. She also plays Domri Rade too.
There's A LOT of unexplored potential in gruul splash white or Naya. I realise it's not a tier deck but honestly she played my abzan deck and won one game out of three WITH ONLY 2 CARDS THAT DEALT WITH LILIANA. It was impressive. Having said that if I'd have side boarded she would have run into batter skull haha.

I think naya could be up there in the tiers with careful building. The new skullcrack 2.0 helps along with Boros Charm and other shiz.
I want to run it. I think goyfs are needed though.

If you run like 20 creatures goyfs power does drop a lot because you really don't have a lot of diversity in the deck.

Goyf is only efficient in control decks - those that run instant, sorcery, planeswalker, creature, land. As soon as you play a deck that runs something like creature, land, instant then he's no where near as good. My girlfriends deck, for example, has 21 creatures, 23 lands, 4 PWs, 12 instants. In those case she's really only likely to get 3 different things into the GY in a game. It's just not as efficient. Sure a 2 mana 3/4 is great, but it's not as back breaking as a deck that regularly gets a 2 mana 4/5

Two mana 3/4 is still insane my dude. You just get that anywhere else. Monastery Swiftspear comes scary close though

Some selesnya stuff comes close to it. Never as good though.
I just like woolly thoctar because it kills rhino and Taz and costs 3 mana, which is nice.

In my opinion, Esper token is the best Esper. With blades too! But we haven't Umezawa's Jitte nor Stoneforge Mystic here in modern... :'(

Oddly enough, my first deck was a Rakdos turn things sideways thing with shit like Rakdos Cackler, Rakdos Shred-Freak, and Mogis, God of Slaughter. Not sure how I ended up playing control.

I just like doing big things. Become Immense, Scapeshift, Sphinx's Revelation, whatever. Just let me do stuff.
I do think my playstyle is quite varied. Given all the options, I'd play a combo deck though.

I've always been Johnnu/Spike. I don't understand how someone can bear not being competitive in a game like this. I suppose it's in my nature. I do a lot of things competitively not necessarily meant to be done so that way.

I like aggro decks that can't easily be contained by control decks....
My first modern deck was a boros weenie deck hand crafted to never lose to uwr...it was cute but lacked game vs much else especially pod
Now I'm for sure going with Naya zoo or Hatebears with rhino
