First deck ever....
80 card no sideboard black vampires with red for burn
First premade deck i bought was the red/black archenemy deck. I still have a shitload of the schemes since my playgroup had a fuckton of them

Temur twin is going to be the next deck to beat after Abzan midrange, in my opinion.

Breaking Modern, Putting Twins on Thragtusks.
That mirror card seems sweet in Mono Blue Standard.
Tyforthevenom annoys me as well GlistenerAgent, Its ok though because Sorin Markov is comparable to Keranos and is playable in Grixis Control.

Too bad Thragtusk is still really bad against Abzan.

Oh fak. Mirror + Master of Waves. We're so screwed. Gonna buy a merfolk deck right now.

First deck was a red Eldrazi burn deck. Eh. Then I bought a Zendi Vamp deck that was pretty fun.

How is it Bad Femme_Fatale???
Yeah Mono blue should be a thing, That new UUU Elemental plus this thing.
March 9, 2015 6:06 p.m.
Why is Thragtusk bad against abzan? Wins the rhino battle all day. Is a guaranteed 2 for 1 once it hits the board. Can easily be cast on curve without needing x and y mana...
March 9, 2015 6:08 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #16
Thragtusk is the stone nuts against Abzan. Not Rhino Twin, though. They'll just untap, Twin their Rhino and gain infinite life.
March 9, 2015 6:09 p.m.
That new UUU elemental does come back tapped, but still, that's two removal spells required to kill it. I'm not actually sure the deck needs to be run as an aggro deck, though. You could splash another color for some removal or protection. Thassa makes things unblockable, master provides blockers. Doesn't NEED to be aggro.
Oh, and llama cheese sounds disgusting.

Femme_Fatale says... #18
Thragtusk, believe it or not, does absolutely nothing against Abzan. So what if you are able to kill one Siege Rhino or one Tarmogoyf or one Tasigur, there are about 3 more coming in waiting right after that. You are swinging with a creature that can be killed very very easily. You gaining 5 life does nothing to stop their assault of 4 power creatures. That 3/3 token? Absolutely fucking USELESS against Abzan, whose creatures are all easily available at 4 or 5 toughness.
This is my experience from trying to get Thragtusk to work. It doesn't. Just play Tarmogoyf.
March 9, 2015 6:14 p.m.
GA, just drop it. I don't bother commenting on his shit anymore.
March 9, 2015 6:17 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #20
Umm, that's in a blink shell, which is generally low power.
If you're playing an attrition deck, Thragtusk guaranteed trades with two of their cards, and if you're backing it up with removal of your own or counterspells, they will have a tough time not trading one of their creatures for it. The 3/3 at worst reads "gain 4 life" on it.

bijschjdbcd what is tyforthevenom doing now? I must know these things.
March 9, 2015 6:18 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #22
I mean, the best answer to Tarmogoyf is Tarmogoyf. But Thragtusk is sweet for those of us who didn't get while the getting was good or however the saying goes.
It should also be noted that if you have an explosive endgame to back up the stall power Tusk gives you, it's really good as well. Twin and Shift can take the most advantage of this.

Asking for help and them arguing over certain deckbuilding methods that are pretty much mandatory to the deck.
March 9, 2015 6:22 p.m.
Ya that didnt make sense. So your argument was that their rhino will have more rhinos coming the turn after...well you too will have another tusk coming turn after, not to mention a 3/3 already on the board.
March 9, 2015 6:23 p.m.
No the best way to beat goyf is abrupt decay. But they tend to be played together cause green, am I right.
March 9, 2015 6:26 p.m.
CommanderOfBolas says... #26
Ty asks for help, then gets all butthurt when we tell him to post in the forum about help. then he goes on to say he is so good because the people he plays against are so bad
March 9, 2015 6:27 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #28
You'll be playing around maybe 2 or 3 Tusks. They have 4 Goyfs, 4 Rhinos and 2 Tasigurs. Those Tusks honestly do not do enough to stop them.

It buys you time.
Which is all you need Femme.
Look at Gerard Fabiano's list from the SCG Open.
I think Yuuchi Ichikawa is the real reason that Esper deck did well, Not the deck itself.
March 9, 2015 6:29 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #32
Tusk isn't supposed to beat them by itself. It's not like your deck is 57 lands and three Thragtusks. You've got removal, counterspells, your own freaking game plan that can win on its own...
March 9, 2015 6:30 p.m.
CommanderOfBolas says... #33
I think the biggest difference between a good player and a bad player is that the good player doesn't lose to himself. to a good player, no game is unwinnable before it even starts.

The best answer to goyf is Rest in Peace by best i mean funniest. I've won exactly one match like that
March 9, 2015 6:34 p.m.
CanadianShinobi says... #36
That would be amazing. I'm going to stick with the Esper Mentor list that won in Japan for now. I shall build it and I shall be victorious!
March 9, 2015 6:37 p.m.

I can't figure out that mentor list. It looks so solid but every time i playtest it just seems to durdle

Eternal Decay

VampireArmy you and are are having different experiences then.
March 9, 2015 6:45 p.m.
Sorry, that's bad grammar, it would be Eternally Exiling Decay. My bad.
March 9, 2015 6:45 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #45
Yeah, not seeing the Britishness.
Not seeing the Mentor deck being good either.
March 9, 2015 6:46 p.m.
Do we think the new anafenza is worth picking up? Can't see her fitting into any shell currently, but three dollars for a strong two drop doesn't seem bad.
March 9, 2015 6:46 p.m.
CanadianShinobi says... #50
GlistenerAgent it looks strange, I know, I tried to "fix it" with Mystical Teachings I then decided to play test the actual list and it is surprisingly good.

tyforthevenom is pissing me off. Again.
Deep breaths.
