fresh start. GO
TheAnnihilator, I had a friend way back when advise me against foiling my deck when I got back into magic, cause some people might think Im trying to influence my draws by not foiling the whole deck.. so I was just kinda curious in case the same thing comes up. :3
February 28, 2015 1:39 a.m.
Ryotenchi yea that is definitely not the case at all. The only reason to avoid foils is a) they tend to wrap over time, and b) they are more expensive. If you don't care about this, foil to your heats desire.
Painting cards also really doesn't influence how a card in a sleeve feels.

If you double sleeve they domt warp in my experience.
I have foiled Hallowed Fountain, Sacred Foundry and Ajani Vengeant.
Only reason I got them is because I hate seeing valuable cards damaged for no reason, Hence double sleeving.
What percentage of that 200 is gonna be PG Femme_Fatale?
Did you alter that Baneslayer? Its gorgeous.

The best advice is just to ask your local judge. Personally, none of my customers have had much of a problem as far as I know. Someone did accuse me of using a "fake" card (I had an altered AEtherling that I was using in my Esper Control back in RTR block), but my opponent let it go when I showed him a backup copy of the normal card, shrugs. So, it really depends.

Ill def ask them next prerelease.. Their kinda small town a-holes (Scavenging Ooze my french...) that barely know what a modern staple is.. so its kinda up in the air.. the casuals could get upset if I do well.. I can think of 6 specific people... :(
Good thing Im not playing abzan..

I'd say that your best bet is to have an extra normal card to show them. Just ask if they prefer you use that one. (What can they say when you obviously own the card? xD ).
That, or (unfortunately) you may simply choose not to get any cards done up. T_T Sad for me, but it must be said.

A Brief Lecture on Sengoku Jidai
To the vast majority of Western historians, Asian history is an often overlooked field of study. This is not to say that it is an obscure field of historical research, for Japanese historians in particular have detailed many accounts of the historical period known as Sengoku Jidai. For me this era of history is particularly captivating because Sengoku Jidai and its consequences have laid much of the ground work for modern Japanese social and political values. As a historian who focuses on socio-political aspects this time period provides new insight into human affairs when most of the Western world overshadows its Eastern counterpart. As such, here is a brief overview of what I intend to eventually be the focus of my PhD studies in the future.
The Sengoku Period, also known as the Warring States Period, (Sengoku Jidai) spans roughly from 1467-1603 and encompasses a number of smaller periods. In essences the Sengoku Period was a time of extreme political upheaval and civil war in Japan between various clans led by a daimyo (warlords).
To understand the extent of the Sengoku Period however, one must examine the political structure of the Japanese Archipelago during this time. As previously noted clans were led by a Daimyo. These daimyo were both the military and political head of the clan and ruled with near absolute authority. However, this is merely the structure of the clans themselves, to full understand why the Sengoku Period took place at all we must move into the overarching political framework.
In theory each clan was beholden to the Emperor. The Emperor was supposed to be the supreme, divinely appointed power, of all of Japan. However, the Emperor's power has often varied in reach and scope. Below the Emperor is what was referred to as the Shogun. The Shogun was the military head of the country, appointed by the Emperor. However, over the course of time the Shogunate (the Shogun's administration) had slowly annexed any real power that the Emperor had. As a result, at the outbreak of the Sengoku Period the clans were not revolting to overthrow the Emperor (who they still held in awe) but the Ashikaga Shogunate; who had reigned since 1336.
One of the reasons for the extensive time of this period is due to the lack of political unity. And despite the Ashikaga Shogunate being overthrown in 1573 civil war continued between two main factions for another 30 years. These factions were led by Tokugawa Ieyasu and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Eventually, after failed invasions of Korea and his death, Hideyoshi's faction lost and following the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, Tokugawa Ieyasu was declared Shogun. By 1603 Iyeyasu had politically unified enough of Japan, to end the Sengoku Period.

In other news, I'm gonna try and bring my daughter over here. I can't fucking stand using bluestacks. The program itself interferes with my personal life, and because it is the method I use to contact my daughter, it is extending into our relationship in that the relationship has come to feel like it is interfering with my own life. I don't like that. I want the two to be as one, not as separate conflicts.
So yeah, I'm hoping that getting her on the one site I use the most would bring us back together as unity again. She knows absolutely nothing about magic however, so she may not ever participate in this chat.

Because that way I can consistently contact her on a hourly basis ThisIsBullshit. Bluestacks takes up a large amount of processing power on my computer, and has a habit of crashing my laptop when I try to close it. So if I need to do any work I don't open it for a few days. This has caused the problem of separating my life and my relationship with my daughter. Bringing her to the place where I spend most of my online place would help bring us together.

Skype has the same issues as bluestacks in that it takes up a lot of processing power on my laptop. It is also a really horrible interface for me in recording our conversations. I just don't like skype. I find it really irritating.

Sorry Google plus. and if you have android it is, not sure about apple though. My android has it under that app name of hangouts.

I mean honestly if you just make a private deck with I cards in it, and set it to private, you can just use it as a chat room. Seems like a fine idea. Simple too, it will auto subscribe her and then all she has to do is click the red chat button up top to get to the deck page.
Anyway , speaking of history and japan, has anyone read Shogun? Fantastic novel, very long though.

Thanks, Caligula, for the shoutout!
So, Ryotenchi, as Caligula mentioned, I do alters! In my experience, the acrylics do not add much weight to the cards, but I can double check for you if you'd like. Message me on my wall if you're interested in getting a card done. =D
