fresh start. GO
or you can go Elvish Mystic > Rattleclaw Mystic > new surrak, swing 7 on turn 3...or swing 9 turn with with surrak + yasova. new surrak is pretty beefy i must say

This just in: Lingering Souls sucks really hard in Jeskai Control.

GlistenerAgent I came to the same conclusion.
Also mine

Like, I cut Restos and a Clique for it and never did I want Souls more than those cards.
The mana base is also atrocious if you want to play it. I'd much rather Tectonic Edge your manlands and have a hard-to-deal-with flash creature than make 1/1s.

Oh hey, your username is all swagtastic and stuff.
You Path the Rhino. Souls does less good against Rhinos than Angels do by far. They only help you win the Spirit battle, which the Angels also do an excellent job of.
I really, really like Restoration Angel in my deck.

I like Thundermaw. Attacks for more, mostly, but also lets you kill more Lilianas (you have an extra turn to draw it). Also, it's more party time.
March 11, 2015 4:37 p.m.
VampireArmy says... #11
Does all that and keeps souls in check especiially if you resto flicker
March 11, 2015 4:39 p.m.
The new surrak is awesome in my opinion. Mono-Green is never really tier 1, but it looks like it could be a lot of fun to try and build.

Femme_Fatale says... #13
I think for the new Lili, you'd have to have her as a 4 of, so that you can proc her death off of the legendary rule. I'd actually say to run her in a control shell with clones. Because what better way to kill the opponent with their own Siege Rhinos? Oh, and the best part is is that Phantasmal Image is very easy to kill.
March 11, 2015 4:54 p.m.
But then you're using her for the ultimate. Which is silly.

Just isn't worth. She works in the aristocrats shell because they spam resurrection and sacrifice as it is

@chiefbell: actually, the g/b dragon would deal damage. Regenerate only takes place the next time the creature would die. It is a replacement effect. So the next time it would die, remove it from combat, remove all damage marked on it, and tap it

Lol next time you get bashed to death by some Souls tokens talk to me.
Resto gets pathed, Souls doesn't, You don't cast Souls straight away. You hold off until you can counter+Souls.
March 11, 2015 5:06 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #18
Maybe it was just a bad experience. It does feel really clunky, and I have to take a million damage and cut LD to cast it, so meh. I'll just hope to dodge the one Abzan player.

Fair enough, Tectonic edge is only mildly relevant at the moment.
March 11, 2015 5:26 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #20
Interestingly enough: I want Tec-Edge against 3-4ish out of the 10ish people who play Modern at my store, while Souls would be good against 1-2ish of them. Souls just isn't worth it.

I'm just gonna main board my thundermaw and see how that fares. I like the consistency of basic uwr. Just feel uneasy vs abzan
March 11, 2015 5:37 p.m.
Va I know that old USA control decks would run thundermaw when lingering souls was popular so it should do well, and yes it is better than stormbreath.
March 11, 2015 5:53 p.m.
There's a lot of path to exile going around though....
March 11, 2015 5:55 p.m.
I'd argue that calling it american control when those colors were originally British is somewhat off, but we all know how well the brits were able to control their empire.
March 11, 2015 5:59 p.m.
Would appreciate it if you guys could contribute to my new thread
Please please please.
We can do some good work here. Would be cool to do a showdown series.
March 11, 2015 6 p.m.
Game 1 that's a legitimate argument but post board when playing against usa path is the worst removal spell to have so it will be what I want to pull out because allowing a control to have more lands than you is never great. Also if they didn't see the thundermaw, as it is a one of, they won't really be leaving in removal for that.
March 11, 2015 6 p.m.
GlistenerAgent says... #29
I'd actually be really interested in doing a Showdown series. I'm willing to take on that responsibility.
March 11, 2015 6:02 p.m.
That's a backhanded compliment to the french if i've ever seen one. Are you sure your british haha?
March 11, 2015 6:02 p.m.
A showdown series would be interesting but I'd throw this in - what if we had users vote for the matchup? I think that having an infect deck or a junk deck playing every single week / two weeks / month would be boring. What if each episode was fresh? It would obviously take a lot of effort because we're all good at our own decks but we could share the load.
March 11, 2015 6:06 p.m.
VampireArmy says... #34
So they path the Dragon if i don't counter it...and have one less removal for my collonades and restos? Deal

GlistenerAgent says... #36
Chief I posted an idea on your wall.
Here it is for all to see:
1: We have two polls. One lets users select a Tier 1 deck (currently Abzan, Burn, Twin and Affinity) and the other selects a tier 2 deck and there we have our matchup.
2: We simply include a bunch of decks in one poll, and the top two vote getters face off.

Agent has a wicked idea there. It will serve to help us rogue deckers out there see how we fare vs tier brews. I would love to see my mardu brew square off at some point...
March 11, 2015 6:15 p.m.
I'm going to sleep now. We need a way to organise this. I would suggest we start a Google document that anyone can edit if they have the link, or a private deck that you can share with people. Either works. Wait .... Or we start a tappedout facebook group where we can plan times for matches etc. shit son.
im happy to check writing for spelling and grammar, as always.
Tag CommanderOfBolas because he seemed keen.
March 11, 2015 6:15 p.m.
Basically we need a way to plan
who's playing
when
who's writing

I think I'll set up a Google doc when I get home for us. Or I'll start the Facebook group. Give me like 30 minutes and I'll have it ready. From there, we can have a schedule for users/decks and writers. Seems like a solid line of action.
March 11, 2015 6:20 p.m.

Im keen.
Stormbreath is better.
Resolving it against Junk or the Mirror is great, More resilient than a Thundermaw.
March 11, 2015 6:20 p.m.
I'll start an unofficial tappedout users facebook group.
