Sounds awful. Human kind is weird. Personally I've felt my self worth is more based on making others feel better about themselves. I don't like to feel above anyone unless they're an asshole to me. That's the exception

ChiefBell says... #2

It's not necessarily about feeling above people, and helping others is also a massive part of self esteem, but my overall point is that a large amount of how you feel about yourself is based on external factors - others.

March 22, 2015 12:33 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #3

I'm not sure about that. The amount of time i even interact at all with others is extremely low. Hell i interact more with people here than i do in real life considering majority of people in this area are hard drug addicts or alcoholics haha even then I've cut down on posting

The way I am (personnaly), is that I always want to be better than the others to help my friends and relatives to become better themselves and overcome their difficulties. It might also be because I find a lot of people really awesome and impressive, and that I want to be impressive and awesome too. @-@

VampireArmy - you're conception of what youre good and bad at in life generally is made up by judgments based about others abilities. In fact the very idea of being good at something or bad at something exists because other people exist.

VampireArmy says... #6

Yeah can't deny that

ChiefBell I don't even come to this thread too often (Because I feel like I won't really fit into too many conversations) but I randomly saw your comment and just gotta say that some intense stuff, man.

Another thing comes into play with your perception on how well you perform in, well, life would be how your mind state is at during the moment you are evaluating yourself. I guess I'm trying to say that it's easy to think irrationally and sell yourself as someone lower than you actually are...er, anyways, I'll go away now.

ChiefBell. VampireArmy

I never seriously cared about upvotes. Like it was cool if it happened cause it meant someone liked my deck, but recently I've been building popular decks and to a certain degree it's gone to my head.

I want to have the highest upvotes deck among all the Horobi, Death's Wail edh decks or build the best Ghoulcaller Gisa deck. It's suddenly about the illusion of political pull by having the "top spot"

March 22, 2015 1:04 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #10

I mean the best that happends is people ask you to help them. It's alright i guess.

March 22, 2015 1:07 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #11

It creates a you want help from ME? It generates a feel good moment. Like a certain amount of respect is conveyed from those scores.

March 22, 2015 1:11 p.m.

elpokitolama says... #12

Talking about help need, if someone wants to see one of her/his decks playtested, just send me a link to it here. :)

March 22, 2015 1:13 p.m.

elpokitolama says... #13

Oh, my page!

Page claiming is far more satisfying than anything else you can find on Internet.

March 22, 2015 1:14 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #14

elpokitolama you sating you're willing to play test Lili's Revelation and help me find cuts for Myojin of Night's Reach ect?

March 22, 2015 1:17 p.m.

sirbar says... #15

Honestly I prefer suggestions over upvotes. I've always seen it as if someone is willing to help tune the deck then they care more about it than someone who just hits +1.

elpokitolama says... #16

-x-Juuzou-x-x-: I began playing EDH yesterday so I might not be a great help for this format (I'm way stronger in modern and standard), but if you're in a vital need I'll go for it. :p

sirbar: one day, someone on the site did plenty of playtests for one of my modern decks and helped me incredibly to improve it. It was simply fantastic for me that someone took that much of his time just to help me building a deck...

Wtf did I do with my username. ._.

March 22, 2015 1:24 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #18

I would agree with you sirbar but I've notice that a lot of the time sub par cards get suggested or cards I already have in deck or cards I'd already cut would be suggested.

March 22, 2015 1:25 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #19

Indeed. Agreed.

  1. Never, ever, EVER buy a fat pack. It's absolute BS. I got my Alternate Sultai Charm, and then I opened four packs of junk. Woo.

  2. I was at the hotel for a Jewish convention thingy. By the way, I'm Jewish.

  3. I almost never upvote. I just suggest sideboard cards and exploit ridiculous combos.

Didgeridooda says... #21

My real decks get some votes, but joke decks get votes easiest. I take only pride from Zeus Farts, no shame. It is my only hope for a deck reaching 100 votes.

Anyone know why "good card suggestions" goes down? Mine was at 131 for a week or so now it's at 127

March 22, 2015 1:50 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #25

No idea. I have not checked it in a while.

I think they reset all activity a few weeks ago, so it may have taken away the ones you got then.

March 22, 2015 1:54 p.m.

sirbar says... #26

Yea true often people suggest cards that have been cut or that are already in the deck, but it really helps when they suggest something that really works.

One of the most common suggestions I get on my loam pox deck is Tasigur, the Golden Fang, they don't understand that I often have very few cards that I want to delve away since most come back to my hand or go straight to the battlefield.

March 22, 2015 2:02 p.m.

Ryotenchi says... #27

Agreed sirbar, Hate it when peeps dont read my description and suggest cards Ive already thrown out and explained why... Not that I blame them for not reading it..

Worse, when a suggestion makes utterly no sense.. wish I had an example.

March 22, 2015 3:12 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #28

99 more people till I break top 100. I want to become a Sparkle Witch so bad!

March 22, 2015 3:23 p.m.

Ryotenchi says... #29

If I ever pull that off, Im just gonna change mine to 'The village Idiot'. :P

March 22, 2015 3:29 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #30

You're already a "deckspert" so haven't you've hit the top 100???

March 22, 2015 3:31 p.m.

Ryotenchi says... #31

When did that happen?! o.O

March 22, 2015 3:49 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #32

WOW IMMA DECKSPERT TOO

March 22, 2015 4 p.m.

sirbar says... #33

I wonder if top 200 is now deemed deckspert.

March 22, 2015 4:38 p.m.

sirbar says... #34

Never mind I'm a deckspert and I'm 581. I feel special. :)

March 22, 2015 4:39 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #35

You know what I just realized, that with the recent meta changes in modern, Death's Shadow junk decks are now, below tier 3.

March 22, 2015 4:58 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #36

I'm thinking Deckling got changed to Deckspert.

March 22, 2015 4:58 p.m.

sirbar says... #37

Femme I didn't even know that they had a tier. Thought they were rouge?

March 22, 2015 5:04 p.m.

sirbar says... #38

And there are still people who are decklings, so I don't know guess we can epoch next time he is in here.

March 22, 2015 5:05 p.m.

Boss man is doing more boss man witchcraft.

March 22, 2015 5:14 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #40

Death's Shadow used to be T1.5, back when Jund was top deck. Back before Abrupt Decay.

March 22, 2015 5:34 p.m.

Abrupt Decay ruined everything for everyone for ever.

March 22, 2015 5:39 p.m.

sirbar says... #42

Hey don't you say that about my baby, its bad enough you control players locked my Deathrite Shaman into legacy.

March 22, 2015 5:41 p.m.

Fine, let me expand that. Green ruins everything because Goyf exists and fuck that why is it being printed as a mythic when it isn't even mythic worthy?

March 22, 2015 5:47 p.m.

sirbar says... #44

Alright I can except that. I love rock, but I hate goyf mostly because people jam it into everything they can, like twin. Its like I want it to be gone but I hate banning cards, so idk. :(

March 22, 2015 5:50 p.m.

I also hate banning cards, but the more I play Modern and the more I seriously look at Modern I keep wondering: What would Modern be like if we banned Goyf?"

I'm serious, I'm not hardline "BAN GOYF RAWR!", but I would really like to see what Modern would be like if Goyf didn't exist in the format. I mean, sure Twin would still be around, but what other decks might make Tier 1 if Goyf were banned?

March 22, 2015 5:52 p.m.

sirbar says... #46

Yeah I think wizards just needs to print something that just makes goyf bad(but like that is possible). I think it would be interesting if wizards did a temp ban of goyf for a while, then for another period unban deathrite, and then for another period unban both deathrite and bloodbraid elf. Give wizards the ability to test the waters with rock that they hate so much without anything being permanent.

March 22, 2015 6:08 p.m.

bigguy99 says... #47

DRS needs to stay out of Modern. It's a planeswalker on a stick and Modern can't deal with that. BBE could be interesting but still probably too strong. I am on the fence about whether to ban Goyf or not.

March 22, 2015 6:14 p.m.

"Mythic worthy" is a dangerous phrase.

In most sets, rarity is determined by power in Limited and the frequency with which certain cards should appear in draft/sealed pools.

In reprint sets like MMA, rarity is determined by demand and economics. Goyf is mythic-worthy in MMA because of economic concerns, not because it's a Limited all-star.

March 22, 2015 6:15 p.m.

As for a potential Goyf ban, the two primary arguments are that it raises the barrier to entry and it's forced into many decks. The latter is more of a concern; the former is unfortunate, but I don't think that it's grounds for a ban. This is a TCG. It's founded on the premise that supply and demand will be unequal. It's also hard because Goyf is simply a scaling beater; it's not the utility powerhouse that DRS was.

March 22, 2015 6:17 p.m.

bigguy99 says... #50

It's a scaling beater but when you can have it a 4/5 on turn three or even two it's more than a little bit strong for two mana. There's also Rhino, but that's four mana and despite the life swing I don't think it's ban-worthy or ever will be.
