Furthermore, Goyf being jammed into multiple decks to me is more concerning because it demonstrates that some level it is oppressive to the format. Even if I could afford Goyfs I would never play them. I don't particularly like Green as a colour. My main concern with Modern (currently) is that Modern does not possess an adequate Control deck and hasn't for some time.

WOTC doesn't see profits from the secondary market sale of cards between stores and players. That does not mean that WOTC can afford to disenfranchise loyal, heavily-invested players. They've burned their fingers once before in the debacle that produced the Reserved List, and they know that players are very concerned about the stability of their investments.
For the players, it's bad enough that you have to drop $800 to get a set of one creature for your deck, then another however much for the lands, and more again for the rest of the cards. If WOTC just reprinted Goyf in a widely available form, the value of those investments would tank and you'd have a lot of really pissed players.

The purpose of MMA and the new MMA 2015 (whatever the TLA for that is) is to provide a slight increase in supply for cards like Goyf and a moderate increase in supply for less exclusive cards. This allows WOTC to maintain and even bolster interest in Modern, make it easier for new players to break into the format (even if supply isn't drastically increased, the influx of new prints makes the cards more available in the trade community), and to achieve both of those things without great risk to invested players.

If Cryptic Command is reprinted as a rare, will it still be so expensive? I don't know if the original Modern Masters changed its price much when it came out.

Cryptic Command may come down a bit, but it's been climbing for a while and will likely remain high.

I'm just making an observation. Random fun is fine once in a while, but I've seen pages in both JC discussion that are 5-10 posts about someone claiming a page and then only half of the page is left for an actual discussion about something.
I guess it doesn't really matter. We've changed the point calculations, so none of this matters.

This thread is mainly popular because people can just have a discussion about whatever they want. No other thread really allows for this and is a social hub like this thread is. I'd rather JC go back to the way it was where we could have lengthy discussion about any random topic, and have fun doing it, rather than just people posting random shit that has no relevance to what the previous person posted.

Epochalyptik I have a hard time buying the "economic concerns" argument when you and several others, have on several occasions, have said that WotC does not care about the secondary market. Why then, should it matter if Goyf is printed as a rare?
