But srsly, anyone see the MTGOrigins Liliana? I mean look at it! It's a frickin WEREWOLF! I'm asking because I'm brewing mono-black for Standard, but I'd also want to run it with Profaner of the Dead or some other exploit-y dudes. Because I like to be evil when I kill my stuff.

Hehehe, over the weeked at prerelease I played against this one guy - I played Necromaster Dragon. He played Arashin Sovereign (his only creature). I played Merciless Executioner, made him sac his dragon which he put on top of his deck, only for me to swing into him with my dragon so he had to mill 2. So glorious. He played a big beater so I Fearsome Awakening'd Merciless Executioner and made him sac it, only to keep swinging in.
I felt like I should share.

Honestly? After some thinking and consideration Kolaghan's Command is by far the best, because even at it's worse its still relevant. Now, obviously it needs a home, but from an objective standpoint it is hands down the best.
Also, who is our resident Legacy expert?

So I had a 4 player EDH game where everyone raged on me. I was playing my Alesha deck. T1 Land Tax followed by turn two Sol Ring, Talisman of Indulgence, Mana Vault, Sensei's Divining Top and Scroll Rack. I proceeded to make the next 6 turns take a total of one hour because I was facing two blue decks, both of which could take control of my stuff. This was in general the response I got.

I think they were mad because they thought I was taking 15 minutes a turn just to do Land Tax and Scroll Rack shenanigans CanadianShinobi, when in reality, I had various forms of tutors and counterspells in hand that I was trying to plan out my turns ahead of time.

I think we are all scared of claiming this page.
Thinking about the unbannings. What to guess. I think Dig Through Time, and Sword of the Meek are good guesses. Bloodbraid Elf too. I vote for all those to be unbanned, or at least 2 of them.

I played a game earlier where i won through decree of annihilation, several board wipes, that one enchantment that blows up all permanents with x or less cost and humility...all thanks to having doubling season and going xenagod ultimate into Oracle of mil daya into tons of extra land into elspeth suns chanp ultimate.

I was told I had to retire my bant flicker deck or else. We're all spikes but apparently a consistent board state of stuff like Deadeye Nav, Palinchron, Glen Elendra, Prophet of Kruphix, Ephara, and Mistmeadow witch, among other awesome bant creatures, was a bit too annoying.

I've already been over what I think is going to happen with the ban list, but I think I have changed my mind a little. After realizing that Sword of the Meek + Thopter Foundry isn't an infinite combo, don't know why I thought that, I think it could be unbanned to try and bring a form of control into modern. As for elf, ehh maybe. I don't understand why people want jund back but will complain about abzan, seems weird to me. Dig should stay banned to keep combo from being to good.
That my two cents.

Speaking of play groups, does anyone else's group allow un cards. Mine allows one per deck. Also we don't use ban lists but only allow one eldrazi titan per deck.

Why does everyone hate on twin? It's not even difficult to beat. I honestly believe that twin is a super important deck in modern and the reason for that is that it's a massive motivation for decks to actually run removal and be constructed carefully. Essentially, combo decks as a whole are the main motivation for a player to not just play random aggro / stompy midrange, and that's important because it makes deck building challenging. If there weren't decks that could just combo off and win then you wouldn't need to bother as much with things like Path to Exile or Abrupt Decay. The format would slow down A LOT because combo decks also present time pressure and we'd be left with a lot of trashy midrange. Siege Rhino - the format.

We're not really in siege rhino the format. Abzan sticking between 10-15% is acceptable. Like its equivocally, measurably better than previous seasons.

I 100% agree. This isn't a BAD meta - it's more balanced than it has been in a long time. But this certainly is a BORING and STALE meta. We've timewarped back to a previous era, but just removed pod. I'm hoping for a little something for control. Just a tiny something.
Also lol @ Femme_Fatale saying Abzan is easy to pilot. Do you really think that? With the introduction of rhino it has got a little easier because it makes decision making against aggro smoother but it's still an extremely awkward deck to play. Has no idea whether it wants to be control or midrange (referring to the low creature count version). You can believe that if you want, but from my experience it can be a total nightmare.

6tennis, I love the art on the card and really considering picking up a playset of the FNM ones soon. I want to stay away from black mainly so it doesnt just become jund.. and once its jund it just kills any brewing fun.. :( That Dark Confidant though.. I wish I could afford some.
