OMG You won't believe this

The Blind Eternities forum

So I play Whip of Erebos the turn before to keep me barely alive. I have Courser of Kruphix out and when my turn comes back around I pull out the rest of my land as this was very late game. Most of my deck was in my graveyard. I play Heroes' Bane then use Become Immense then enchant him with Nighthowler which gives him +20/+20 then use Bane's ability 5 times with all but two of my mama and 3 Whisperer of the Wilds and as my opener went to kill it with his only trump card I play Kin-Tree Invocation with my last mana and make a copy of the, get this, 960/960 Bane. Let's just say he conceded

Sorry I mean opponent not opener. Stupid fat fingers and autocorrect

I think this goes in Blind eternities and cools story bro tell it again.

brycecream says... #4

The only part that confuses me is, how they "went to kill it" and you cast Kin-Tree Invocation. Unless they were using sorcery speed removal and told you they were going to use it before actually casting it? Huh?

April 5, 2015 1:42 a.m.

xlaleclx says... #5

Fairly certain none of this is true.

April 5, 2015 3:11 a.m.

willsm87 says... #6

brycecream, that is why the title says we wont believe it...

April 5, 2015 3:18 a.m.

xlaleclx says... #7

This reminds me of Shaun Mclaren's "15 Magic Clickbait Articles You Must Read Before You Die!"

April 5, 2015 3:22 a.m.

The_Raven says... #8

You use 4 mana for Hero's bane, 4 mana for Nighthowler, 20 mana for its ability and 2 mana Kin Tree? That's 30 mana in one turn. How would you ever have that much mana?

I don't believe this.

April 5, 2015 4:35 a.m.

xlaleclx says... #9

Not to mention instant speed kine tree invocation lol

April 5, 2015 4:36 a.m.

Aefinn says... #10

That smelly smell.

April 5, 2015 5:18 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #11

You can't cast kin tree at instant speed. Didn't happen.

Also you couldn't have generated that much mana.

Also this is in the wrong forum. Social is for meetups. This can go into the blind eternities.

April 5, 2015 7:13 a.m.

The_Raven says... #12

Actually, this could be true. No one said it was a standard game. He could be playing a Sultai commander deck, with a lot of ramp and spells like Quicken...

April 5, 2015 8:20 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #13

Nope. This is standard. He has 3 Whisperer of the Wilds.

I mean there's the possibility this is modern but that's like absurdly unlikely.

April 5, 2015 8:22 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #14

Also he's gone into a lot of detail in the original post which leads me to believe that he wouldn't leave out an essential detail like 'I cast Quicken to give Kin tree instant speed'

April 5, 2015 8:23 a.m.

Didgeridooda says... #15

I lost it at "with all but two of my mama". Thank god I was not drinking coffee.

Complicated busy plays lead to mistakes sometimes. Lots going on, and things can get overlooked. Happens to everyone. Happens to me quite often. If a card has a bunch of words on it, I can't be bothered to read it sometimes. I have lost games to infinite combos that do not exist.

April 5, 2015 12:01 p.m.

Tantibus says... #16

I run 24 mana as my deck is delve and self mill heavy. The other 6 comes from Whisperer of the Wilds

April 5, 2015 12:16 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #17

Tantibus they are mainly talking about the sorcery spell that was cast as an instant.

April 5, 2015 12:17 p.m.

The_Raven says... #18

So you had all 24 lands out, and not a single one in the graveyard, since you play self mill? Quite impressive.....

April 5, 2015 12:18 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #19

Also, getting all lands out, and dorks is iffy. If you had said you were using a green devotion shell, I would thing that more plausible.

April 5, 2015 12:19 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #20

Why would you concede anyway? It doesn't have trample!

April 5, 2015 12:20 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #21

Also, if you are playing self mill, and are on turn 24, how big is your deck? Since 24 lands means i you did not miss a land drop, it was a minimum of turn 24.

April 5, 2015 12:21 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #22

Heroes bane costs 5.

Become immense costs 1.

Bestow nigh howler costs 4.

Banes ability 5 times is 20.

Total is 30 mana.

You have 24 lands out and 6 mana from dorks.

Total is 30 mana.

Kin tree costs 2. Where did that 2 come from?

April 5, 2015 12:23 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #23

Wait, how many lands were you playing per turn with the courser out?

April 5, 2015 12:23 p.m.

Tantibus says... #24

And for those of you about the instant sorcery ordeal. I worded this kind of poorly. His "kill" spell was Divine Verdict so he couldn't use it before I declared attacks. Sorry for the confusion. This is my first real time with using a forum for telling my own story

April 5, 2015 12:35 p.m.

Tantibus says... #25

Didgeridooda the last turn I pulled 3 land

April 5, 2015 12:37 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #26

That doesn't solve the mana issue.

You also cheated with Courser. He doesn't let you play more than one land per turn.

April 5, 2015 12:38 p.m.

Tantibus says... #27

And yes it was a very very long game. With the Whip of Erebos I was gaining literally one more life than he could take away the next turn and that went on for like 4 turns

April 5, 2015 12:39 p.m.

Tantibus says... #28

Thanks chief I thought he was a little too good.

April 5, 2015 12:40 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #29

Notice the different in wording between Oracle of Mul Daya and Courser of Kruphix

April 5, 2015 12:42 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #30

I sort of figured that courser was being used that way. He does not allow for extra land drops, just lets you take your land drop from your library if one is on top.

Not an unusual misunderstanding there. I have seen a few people think it works that way.

Those grindy games are always good ones to remember. Also if you have any questions about rules, there is a rules Q&A tab up top. It is really useful, and normally you can get very quick answers there.

April 5, 2015 12:44 p.m.

xlaleclx says... #31

Definitely doesn't add up even with the courser cheating

April 5, 2015 3:39 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #32

It is possible the mana added up, Nykthos could be one of the lands.

April 5, 2015 4:13 p.m.

xlaleclx says... #33

" Most of my deck was in my graveyard." But none of his lands were? + The cheating somehow with Kin tree invocation

April 5, 2015 4:16 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #34

I would not say cheating. It was just a misunderstanding. He knows now, and I doubt that will be an issue again. Everyone has rules that they misinterpret when they learn the game. I know I did, oh boy did I.

No, you forgot to untap, you don't get to untap. Multi blockers did not exist. Counterspell was god. Don't even get me started on how we played Dominating Licid

I guess the counterspell things was more the game back then, but still.

April 5, 2015 4:27 p.m.

The_Raven says... #35

Oh my god! Didgeridooda, you just reminded me about mistakes I made back when I learned the game!

Worst mistake: I can respond to spell with sorceries, creatures and enchantments as long as it is just my turn!

Or what about "Upkeep before untap, so you don't get any mana to play spells"!

Or what about "I tap my Prodigal Sorcerer to deal 1 dmg to you! Respond! Lightning Bolt the sorcerer! I take no damage!"

I was totally not cheating back then. I just didn't understand the rules.

April 5, 2015 4:41 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #36

NorthernRaven nice. I remember we did that last one too.

April 5, 2015 4:47 p.m.

as long as we're on the topic of "you won't believe it", I have 2 stories.

the first: so, I was playing a game of MTG. I had 10 mana out, and was at 186 health. I promptly swung for 2,486 damage. Can anyone guess how I did this?

The second story: I was on vacation in Hollywood last month, and Me and my family were eating luch at some resteraunt (dont remember the name). anyhow, about 10 minutes in, BILL FREAKIN MURRAY walks up to our table, takes our frys and says "no one will ever believe you" and walks away.

April 8, 2015 11:13 a.m.

Didgeridooda says... #38

Your second story is a long standing urban myth.

April 8, 2015 11:18 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #39

Yeah haha the second one is basically a long joke.

I've peed next to Patrick Stewart though.

April 8, 2015 11:23 a.m.

I was on an elevator with Bill Cosby once, and I'll never forget what he said to me that day...

7, please.
