So... tried PGO again on my lunch since the servers were nuts last night.
Caught me a Bulbasaur on my lunch.
I'm so giddy right now. I never dreamed something like this would happen.
The world has experienced a radical change in the last 24 hours. If you haven't already, you should download Pokmon GO! (for free) from your favorite appstore.

I live in the middle of nowhere, there isn't a pokestop for miles and I can't use data liberally.

Nothing overly exciting yet. I do have to say that this is an incredibly good idea. It does have its problems (i.e. when telling a kid "go play outside" turns into them wandering around aimlessly and getting lost). I'm curious to see what the implications are. I'm fairly certain people will literally be walking into each other around my university's campus.

They go in and out. The launch was kind of sudden and quiet and late on the U.S. side, probably in attempt to funnel traffic flow for unprepared servers.
Servers were still unprepared. And will continue to be for a while probably. I have noticed multiple small changes that happen as the hours pass though. It's not a finished product but you can tell it's got a full force behind it.

I wonder about the legendaries...
If it was like in the trailer for it, does everyone get Mewtwo, or only those who could go to the event. It would SUCK if you couldn't go to, say, New York to acquire one.
Also, do you encounter them without an event?

Just watched my coworker evolve his pidgey. I have yet to be able to catch any other pokemon. Another coworker and I had just gone on an adventure behind the building (I work in a warehouse) and were just wandering around the trucklot as I cursed at my phone. Standing right on top of grass movement and nothing. They don't show up even when I'm standing on top of them.
Talk to first coworker about it. Follow him to the breakroom where we find a pidgey. He catches it, and trades it in to evolve his main pidgey into pidgeotto.

McSleuthburger It definitely is. I even attempted to create an account on my laptop in case it was simply a mobile issue, but same error there as well. Hopefully it will all be resolved by tomorrow or so.

Server issue are common for this type of thing. They should be fixed by next week. The game is hugely popular. I'm seeing kids running around everywhere lol Tip: Catch as many as possible. Then transfer them for candy. Also, don't forget to start incubating an egg!

Went with my mom to the grocery store, thankfully she wanted to go to the one far away.
Found a Rhydon at the end of my street, which is currently my highest-leveled Pokemon. Also caught a high-CP Eevee and Pidgeotto.
Were pulling out onto a main road and see a VENUSAUR. Just missed it DX

I mean, what else are you supposed to do while relieving yourself other than TO and now Pokemon?
I don't know that there's ever been a pokemon inside my house other than the one time I used an incense.

Here's a story, I guess. I had just gotten off work a little after midnight, as I work late nights at a call center. On my way home, grabbed some dinner at McD's and pulled over to eat. I decided to pull over at a Pokestop in the center of my town's square, you know... Because then I could collect multiple times while eating. A two birds, one stone kinda deal. As I was parking, I noticed that someone had put a lure on the stop. Moments later, I saw them. Roughly eighty people gathered at the town square playing Pokemon Go. They were all talking, discussing, sharing, and just playing in the dead of night. Honestly, it was a really amazing thing to see.
Gathering with a bunch of nerds to play Pokemon after dark never made me feel so connected. In other news, I caught approximately 37 Pidgeys that night.

Octrate It's a phenomenon, that's for sure! Every night I have gone out, I've witnessed 25+ people in various groups just walking, catching, talking and laughing. This game has brought so many different people, ethnicity's and backgrounds together. It's kind of beautiful.

So I've been off of Tappedout most of the last week in large part due to PGO. All I did this weekend though. Hows it turning out for people? Any sweet finds?
I started a facebook group for my local twin cities. 270 members (I made this group on Friday). My girlfriend is going hard on it too.
I think this game is amazing considering what it's done to the world in such a short time.

I evolved an Eevee into a Vaporeon yesterday. Then hatched a 10k egg into a low-level eevee which was irritating until I realized that it also gave me 30 candies, so now I have a Jolteon too.
Anyone have a good nickname for a Rhydon?
It is incredible how much of an impact this game has had in such little time. My Youtube suggested videos feed is full of gameplay and such after only watching a few videos. It's also amusing to see the stupid things that people have done while playing (one guy walked into a pond...). Then you also have restaurants and other businesses offering discounts to certain teams or to those that lure the pokestop at their storefront.

I also heard two people fall off a cliff trying to play the game. Also, a stupid girl blaming the game for getting her hit by a car. SMH x300 (100 for each person).
A good nickname for Rhydon...maybe Why-Don? Ok, I'm outta here...
Seriously though, try letting your phone autocorrect the name and see what you get.

My phone comes up with one suggestion for Rhydon: Rhydonite. Wtf? Apparently it's an odd way to spell a certain stone...
The only nicknames that I currently have and am satisfied with are Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades for my three eevee evo's (well, still need Flareon).

Despite the server issues (which I think can be blamed solely on the unexpectedly overwhelming amount of downloads), I believe the game is very healthy for the gaming community (physically and socially) and those who were teetering on the edge of it for awhile now.
Last night, I took an ice chest, a bunch of camping chairs, and a group of friends out to a park and sat between three PokeStops with lures the whole time, and there were literally hundreds of people walking around as the sun was going down. I've never seen anything like it.
Maddeningly, it took me quite a while to find a Caterpie (since Butterfree is my favorite and I've always had a knack for making it work in Tier-1 play). I promptly nicknamed it "Murderfree".

So it finally came to Canada a few days ago. Good times. My university has a bunch of pokestops. By the time I clear campus, they've been recharged. Aside from that, It's given me a good reason to start walking again.

Yeah universities are huge hotspots for pokemon. The state university here in town and the surrounding area is a massive area for pokemon trainer. The Quad is a massive concentration area, as well as the local parks.
I'm running a facebook group for the community that's a little over 350 members now. It's really cool to see all these people interacting and meeting up and sharing experiences and trying to figure out the game together.
Vote Nintendo 2016. Bringing the nation together, in a week or less, guaranteed.

I'm home for the summer but excited to see what my campus looks like. I know there are easily a few landmarks around that could be stops - one might even be close enough to reach from my apartment :D

Got it to see what all the rage was about. Not a pokemon fan really myself, my brother and his friend are pretty much walking Pokedex's though... Which was funny because their GPS wasn't working properly while mine was, so I was like 'ha ha Pidgey, haha zoobat,haha evo'd a ratata...' Couldn't put it down until I went to the gf's out in the country where there isn't a pokemon for 50km's... Luckily by my own house there is a pokestop that if my GPS glitches just a bit I don't even have to leave the house. Lol and a gym right down the street.

Was being productive... Then I noticed Gengar and Alakazam silhouettes on my nearby list. Very odd considering I only have meh near my most of the time. Just spent 45 minutes looking for them with no success :(

Yeah the footstep tracker has been super buggy lately. Haven been busy lately so I don't know if they updated it but everything on your radar was always listed as three footsteps away.

That's been bothering me the whole time. I had the shadows of a Magmar and an Oddish. 3 steps? Ok. Find that they either ventured onto someone else's territory or out into the wilderness? Not taking any chances.

Yeah I'm still seeing that. I've also noticed that the three nearest don't align with the first three in the expanded menu. When I was Gengar hunting earlier, the collapsed menu had - - Gengar while the expanded menu had - - Gengar.
The GPS was also weird today, it has me about 10m off of where I actually am. This was super helpful when I went to run errands with my mom earlier, I'm usually just off of the pokestops on the main road, but this allowed me to get in range.
No complaints, just some interesting bugs. Curious to see when they get fixed.

Yeah, the 3 step bug is still ongoing. And yet, I diligently tracked and caught a Machamp today. Also, a Catterpie, who is known as Mr. Wiggles, Destroyer of Souls.

Well as for your note about the expanded radar and collapsed radar, the first three are reversed on there when you switch between views. You just have to adjust to read to which one is "closest".
The very first one on the expanded radar will be the top left. When you drop the radar down the "first" one will be the right most one. I can conceptually see how and why they're doing it that way but I can also see where it can confuse people.

Well, the update came and kinda ruined the game. I find this ironic: Pokemon Go was created because this is what every fan in the community wanted: Pokemon in real life, but then Nintendo and Niantic start ignoring the requests of the community and shutting down apps that fix the game.
Also, I believe that you can still use Ingress as a way to track pokemon. Correct me if I am wrong.

How did the update ruin the game? I mean, if they fixed the major issues, then it should all be good.
If anything, they should focus on the cheaters. They're everywhere. :(
