The Blind Eternities forum

Here's a forum for being polite. Let's see if we can pull this off.

I'll start:

We pretended we were fancy British people from the 1800s. What's wrong with that?

April 25, 2015 7:22 p.m.

Geezus! I was just having fun! also, just because we were acting and talking the way we were doesnt mean we were being mean or anything! If you took offense, I'm sorry, but lossen up. people make fun of americans all the time, and we don't care. in fact, I'd be HAPPY if people viewed my country as polite and respectful.

Well first of all - "That dreaded Femme and her spoiled "ChiefBell". I'm very sorry, but I scoff on them my good sirs!"

And I wondered - what have I done?

And then I realised you were just taking the piss out of my culture in a completely unsophisticated way. Which, sure, you CAN do and I'm not going to stop you, but you must understand how irritating it is.

Like, we still talk like this.

April 25, 2015 7:24 p.m.

THAT was scorp, not me.

also, as I said, no, when people insult america and make fun of it, I'm not irritated, I play along.

April 25, 2015 7:26 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #5

But, like, go ahead; you can do what you want.

Femme_Fatale says... #6

I bite my thumb.

April 25, 2015 7:36 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #7

That irritated me a lot. Typing 'i bite my tongue' instead of 'I bite my thumb'. Though that phrase went out of fashion well before the 1800s.

April 25, 2015 7:42 p.m.

Scorprix says... #8

That's actually a Shakespeareian swear. You bite your thumb nail and flick your thumb in the person's direction (I think). I'm pretty sure it was the equivalent of the middle finger.

April 25, 2015 7:43 p.m.

Scorprix says... #9

I don't know why I wrote tongue. Should have been thumb.

April 25, 2015 7:45 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #10

It's mostly known from Romeo and Juliet.

April 25, 2015 7:48 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #11

I actually didn't realize legitimate offense would be taken though i suppose i get it. I'm not so keen on the constant "lazy fat murican" thing the internet has labled us as either

April 25, 2015 8:36 p.m.

Scorprix says... #12

@VampireArmy

I'm pretty fit, so I just deal with it. :P

April 25, 2015 8:38 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #13

I mean I'm not fit or fat but calling my lazy is fighting words. I work my ass off :)

I must say, I, too, am not a fan of the stereotype surrounding Australians. However, it is truly an accurate representation of our nation as a whole rather than individuals, and so I have no reason to get offended.

As Stephen Fry once said:enter image description here

April 25, 2015 8:48 p.m.

yet again, JexInfinite, I have fallen for you.

April 25, 2015 8:50 p.m.

JexInfinite says... #16

Quite. Quite. I cannot blame one such as yourself for failing to resist my charismatic charm.

April 25, 2015 8:55 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #17

I don't even know any stereotypes surrounding Australians...

um ...

Guy on a surfboard going "cowabunga!" or something? That's just how little I know about Australia.

April 25, 2015 9:46 p.m.

or captain kangaroo! I love that guy!

April 25, 2015 9:47 p.m.

Scorprix says... #19

Mate?

April 25, 2015 9:48 p.m.

"mate" "kangaroo" "buttsex" "castaways of europe" etc.

April 25, 2015 9:49 p.m.

Scorprix says... #21

"Kangaroos Buttmating got cast away from Europe."

My overall Takeaway from this...

April 25, 2015 9:52 p.m.

actually, it should be "Buttmating Kangaroos got cast away from Europe."

JexInfinite you should really see this...

April 25, 2015 9:54 p.m.

Scorprix says... #23

But we were supposed to be polite...

Stephen Fry is, in reality, one of the stupidest men alive on the planet.

April 26, 2015 12:15 a.m.

I'm going to lighten the mood and go back to being polite. Derp (phone won't let me tag you), I didn't use those pick up lines at prom. But I did manage to go full out on the politeness/manners in honor of this thread. Especially when I saw the girl I was originally going with, who told me she wasn't going anymore, there. And I didn't say anything about it. \m/

April 26, 2015 9:49 a.m.

NoPantsParade says... #33

It was splendid. Nothing says prom like going to Wendy's at 2 AM to get some Frostys with the girl.

April 26, 2015 10:13 a.m.

Scorprix says... #34

Sweet.No pun intended.

April 26, 2015 10:14 a.m.

Scorprix says... #35

Also NoPantsParade, I would assume you are in your last year of Highschool?

April 26, 2015 10:18 a.m.

NoPantsParade says... #36

Yessir, I am. 4. Weeks. Left.

April 26, 2015 11:57 a.m.
