The Legend of Zelda: the 30th Anniversary

This year shall mark the 30th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda franchise, one of Nintendo's best-selling, longest-running, and best-known franchises (probably second only to the Mario franchise), so I wonder what shall be done to commemorate that anniversary. Given that Nintendo made a great deal over Mario's 30th anniversary (which is fully understandable) and is currently placing a great focus on Pokemon's 20th anniversary, I fully expect them to celebrate this momentous milestone with grandeur and fanfare, as well.

What does everyone else say about this? How shall Nintendo celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda?

Their 25th anniversary orchestral CD was great. I have high hopes.

If industry rumors hold any water, they'll celebrate it by releasing the Zelda game that was slated for last year, then fucking over Wii U owners when the new Zelda has a definitive edition on Nintendo's NEXT console. Also probably more concerts and likely a new line of Zelda amiibo figures.

Somebody make a Zelda Commander deck in honor.

Well I hope they do something.

it'd be cool if they made amiibo in all the different styles of Link from over the years (like Ocarina of Time link, Majora's Mask link, etc)

GearNoir: who would be the general of that deck? I imagine that Tolsimir Wolfblood would be a close match for Link, but I am not certain who would be the equivalents of Zelda and Ganon.

I would think that Ganon would be an entirely separate deck, and maybe even Zelda herself. If it's an entirely separate deck, I feel Azami, Lady of Scrolls would be best for Zelda, seeing as her piece of the Triforce is that of knowledge. I'm trying to think of a good female Commander that might be better, but I'm not getting anything. And for Ganon, maybe Thraximundar or Kresh the Bloodbraided?

ItchiUchiha117, what about Lavinia of the Tenth or Bruna, Light of Alabaster? Would they not be good representations of Zelda?

February 28, 2016 3:26 p.m.

They're not really about knowledge. Lavinia is very much a fighter and is about upholding the law and Bruna is, seemingly, about beating in the face of monstrous threats like Demons and Vampires and the like.

Let's not forget that mysterious Sheik person!

ItchiUchiha117: I suppose that that would exclude Jenara, Asura of War, as well?

What about Hanna, Ship's Navigator, Sydri, Galvanic Genius, Alexi, Zephyr Mage, or either version of Narset? Are any of them very Zelda-like?

As for the main subject of this thread, I expect Nintendo to have events to commemorate this anniversary, or at least announcements and tributes on their website, such as fan art, music, or images of cosplay. It would be really nice if Nintendo would make a "Legend of Zelda All-Stars" game (akin to Super Mario All-Stars) that combines all the old-school LoZ games in one, with new features, since I do not recall them ever having done that, before.

February 29, 2016 9:36 p.m.

Ooh, Hanna, Ship's Navigator might work. Thanks, I'm really bad at remembering stuff like that. For the other three, certainly not Jenara, as she is literally all about combat; I feel Zelda wouldn't really have Black in her color identity (though Midna would probably be ), so I think Sydri's out; and Alexi... Maybe? I dunno, Zelda seems more the type just to try and get everyone to stop fighting peacefully, with words, rather than blasting them away from the battle with wind. Although, GearNoir brings up a good Point with Sheik, and maybe Alexi would be better as her.

Also, a question: Why the seemingly random use of italicized words?

ItchiUchiha117: I use italic text for the names of films, books, songs, video games, spells, techniques, or any foreign words.

Well, in the case of cosplay, that's really just a portmanteau of costume play (or display, possibly, can't quite remember), so that isn't actually foreign. At least, that's what I've been told by someone that does cosplay. And then, why wouldn't All Stars be italicized in "Legend of Zelda: All Stars?"
