After watching this I have to say I haven't seen such a realistic portrayal of space fantasy ever before in my life. I am terrified.
Watch the 4 minute video that will change how you view the genre for life here. Remember after watching to do these two simple things:
- Think about how you would feel if you saw what the characters saw.
- Think about what you could do in their situation.
Typically if I am able to visualize those two things then I know the director and staff have done a great job.
If you don't want to be scarred after watching that I suggest watching the funny/cute ChickyBoo videos here by the same production group.
I'm finding it hard to grasp why you found this to be so revolutionary. I've seen all the elements in this short in countless other movies. Not meaning to come off as dickish, but I just don't see this.

That was awesome! As a StarCraft player and slave to the swarm, I approve.

I've never played the game, but I actually like the video. There's not much they could do (after seeing the last couple seconds of the video) and I'm sort of grateful that the kid didn't get saved a second before his death by some superhero or whatnot. Though it's sort of depressing in a way.

They didn't construct additional pylons. Resource management got them good...
