Anyone have a good rapid absorption carb for post-workouts? I want to start blending my own recovery mix.
(By the way, that 80% pure powder I got is baller but it tastes like sand.)

That's funny I was just reading up on that stuff. I read chocolate milk is good because it has carbs and protein mixed into one. I actually used to use chocolate milk after workouts, and I'm guessing it's how I bulked up a bit more. But once I started cutting calories, I got rid of it.

the milk part bulked you up, dairy will do that to you. epoch, try the protein powder i recommended with almond milk. tastes amazing, and has been working extremely well for me

Don't get me wrong. I like my Impact protein sand. It's very volume and cost efficient. But I just need a fast carb source to blend with it for post workouts.

@ Epochalyptik Here's a wicked breakdown of carbs and how and why they work (for people that are curious. I love this site =)
And from another article." the post workout meal is all about speed. And when it comes to speed, simple/high glycemic carbs digest faster than complex/lower glycemic carbs. Which means foods like white potatoes or white rice or a cereal like corn flakes are all good choices for a carb source after a workout."

@ Epochalyptik, like Caligula said, simple carbs will be the best, so if you're looking for something to mix protein powder with, your options are really just milk, juice, or water with sugar in it. But like he said, you're probably better drinking your shake and eating your simple carbs. When I was bulking, I used to have a blowout workout, then I'd go over to a local Mexican food place and get a big order of carne asada fries and a full sugar coke - tons of carbs, simple and complex, protein, and fat even before supplements.

I was actually poking around on that first article prior to posting that question. Some good info there for sure. I was thinking about buying a pack each of dextrose and maltodextrin and blending up a mix that I could put in a shaker bottle and down before my shower.

I can also apparently get 11-lb sacks of dextrose and maltodextrin for $40 total.
Homemade recovery blend here I come. If you never hear from me again, let it be known that I did science.

By the time you've finished mixing all of your powders and sand together you're going to have more of a paste you can put on sandwiches than you will a drink.

Today I got my first body fat reading. I'm at 7%, perhaps one or two percentage points more, but I'll take it. Nonetheless I'm pretty excited.

Are you people still alive?
I'm thinking about going keto for the winter and hitting the gym hard. I've been sort of lackadaisical about fitness recently.

One of the guys from work went keto for a while. He lost a bunch of weight but always looked hungry.

I've been doing this routine and keeping a journal now for 5 weeks now. It's a great workout regimen, and I recommend it. Been changing the exercises every two weeks to switch things up. The only two exercises I keep constant are weighted pull ups (replacing the rack chins with 4 sets of 8-12) and dips. I throw in some ab work on lower body days and reverse curls on upper body days. Also doing an easy 30 minute recovery run on rest days.
I also cut out those weird speed sets on hypertrophy days and just do 4x8-12 of whatever the exercise is for the week.

Just ate three enchiladas. Feeling pretty guilty about it lol. How do you guys typically not feel guilty about eating that kind/volume of food? Like what do you do? It's pouring down rain here, so I can't do much. Already hit the gym and went to work.
