I know I am super original. I am writing a persuasive speech about why people should play magic and I was curious what is your favorite thing about magic or what really keeps you interested in it?

Yeah I agree the community is definitely a positive aspect. But there's a lot of things I personally love about Magic. I'm a slightly competitive person, so the challenge of tournaments and such keep me interested. The main reason I even started playing was simply because of the art/lore. I mean magic has such a wonderful story and universe. The card art and fantasy atmosphere is really appealing. Beyond that Magic simply plays really well. It's a game that continues to make new cards and mechanics yet stay fairly balanced and fun. Plus the mechanics often just feel right. They make sense in both form and flavor.
But I guess you could really sum all the above up into one sentence...
Magic is an incredible game, is tons of fun, and has something for everyone! :)

If you want to play magic, grab some cards, learn a few rules, and bam, you're playing magic. If you want to MASTER magic, that will take lots of time, and by the time you do, there's a new set released. THATS my second favorite part of magic: Everyone decides for themselves how difficult the game is.
My absolute favorite part of the game is the aspect of extreme customization. Each card is a small piece in the machine that is a deck, so each person has the privilege of building a brand new part of the game to show everyone else that they have built a better machine. Deck building is by far the most fun in magic, and I see playing the game as an opportunity to show others that I built a machine that does things that are new and unexpectedly powerful.

I enjoy the thought process of going off in storm, or figuring out that last point for lethal. The satisfaction of figuring out complicated interactions to win the game is the reason I play. And also this wonderful community.

The community is the only thing that keeps me playing. Normally i'm a quiet and fairly shy person, and thus don't make many friends. But when i'm at FNM, it feels like everyone is already a great friend, and i'm able to open up more. Without that feeling, i'd be bored to death of magic by now.
