Extended deck building challenge Vol.3

Challenges and Articles forum

Posted on Nov. 8, 2014, 1:50 p.m. by Pilz_753

The Rules are the same as in the last two: build a deck with cards from Innistrad to now, no sideboards, only one deck per person, 8 submission followed by a small tournament, if a deck was already submitted, don't submit it a second time unless there's a significant differnce (like a different splash colour or some thing like that).

Happy Brewing!

Can we not do repeats like no more of decks that have been used more than once? People that haven't played Mono Red yet can play mono Red, but guys c'mon and try to play different archetypes please.

I really want to see someone try and break Jeskai Ascendancy in this format. The potential is definitely there.

Oh yeah it really is!

I tried it the last time, but after some Gatherer Search I came to the conclusion that the deck gets almost nothing relevant from the bigger cardpool so you would basically play the Standard version with some better cantrips. I don't think that the five card combo you use in Standard could compete in this format.

Question: Could we make one of these for older sets? Say, New Phyrexia back to Shards of Alara, with cards that were banned during that standard (Jace the Mind Sculptor and Stoneforge Mystic, for example).

November 8, 2014 4:49 p.m.

If they did it'd be worth noting Ponder was banned in extended, so there's that.

Was it the lifelink? I bet it was the lifelink.

November 9, 2014 11:48 a.m.

Goody says... #40

Sweet deal, at least I got runner up. I wanna ask, how relevant was Courser of Kruphix in my deck? Since it used to be ISD/RTR it didn't have courser or the fetches, so I feel like the addition of both could have made it even better

November 9, 2014 3:38 p.m.

Pilz_753 says... #41

xcn yes, it was the lifelink.

Goody the Coursers were nice to have espacially in multiples and are certainly a good addition to the deck but they never felt like they were absolutely necessary.
