Despite not liking werewolfs, I really like . I've been thinking of ways to abuse him in standard. And now I would like to see how you (the community) would abuse him.

Rules:

must be standard

preferably not tribal

the deck must not exceed $60 (i plan on buying it)

I will decide a winner 2/8 (that's two wednesday from when I'm posting this)

The winner will get a deck of their choice featured

I'll see if I can figure anything out but this is going to be really hard since even 2 Huntmasters takes up almost half of your cost limit..

nyy5alh, your deck goes over cost. 4 Huntmasters is $47 and 4 Birds is $12.. 2 Green Suns are like $16... then you have dual lands...

Huntmaster Abuse, the idea is to play spells during your opponents turn instead of yours. I tried to keep it simple.

Ok, $60 not including huntsmaster.

Holy crap! I just realized that huntmaster isn't legendary. I definitely don't mind dropping a few extra coins for him. Lol

So a playset of Huntmaster is $60, according to SCG. Trick?

I think for the purposes of this you could probably use the Low price on TCGplayer.

Give him Deathtouch so that when he flips the 2 damage is lethal to whatever you target!

I would say put him in a Birthing PodMTG Card: Birthing Pod deck. But I'm sure a decent, functioning one would cost well over the $60 limit. And there is that dumb Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage...

Here's my attempt: deck:huntmaster-of-the-challenge

It seems like you want to be the focus of the deck, not just another card in the deck so I built it around getting him into play and then having him flip out on your opponent. It should come in under $60 exluding the huntmaster, especially if you own a few of the cards already. The major expense is 4x Green Sun's Zenith MTG Card: Green Sun's Zenith but they are crazy good in a budget deck where you can't pack in a bunch of dual lands to ensure you get the red mana for huntmaster.

Here's my addition to your challenge:

Huntmaster Kessig's Instincts. It costs $55.54 according to the coolstuffinc.com checkout.

Head to the deck to check out the idea.

ok. there has been a few questions about this challenge.

first of all, i did not take in to account the price of when making this challenge.

i do plan on buying a playset. the challenge will remain a $60 budget but that does not include huntmaster.

Huntmaster Abuse updated the deck with green sun's zenith.

I have parallel lives so I get more tokens when he flips, and I have lots of instants to play on my opponents turn to flip him.

It should also be noted that the pricing system on TappedOut is really skewed. Since the prices are manually entered in each cards data page, some cards may actually be more or less expensive than they appear on this site.

If you send your deck to checkout at coolstuffinc.com, you should get an accurate reading on the "card cost" through their pricing system.

Oh. And I know you said you would prefer it if it weren't tribal, but that's just how the card was designed. He gives you a Wolf token, so why not roll with it?
