Tappedout Community Commander Pod

For those Commander players that feel left out of the community leagues.
This is for you. SirFowler and I will be hosting a semi-formal league for anyone wanting to organize some fun commander games with their fellow members of the Tappedout community. In lieu of the recent leagues that have been sprouting up on this site, I've decided to organize a league of the one major format that's been (mostly) left out. EDH is my favorite format to play, as it offers the most malleability in deck building in play style- there are so many ways to design a deck, and so many more to play it, that no one game is the same. This is lost in many of the Constructed formats, where the non-singleton 60-card decklists provide far fewer game scenarios, with far more common net-decking and similar decks.
Fitting for the "social" format.
Commander is often called the "social" format. This nickname has brought about connotations of a game meant for people too afraid of the speed and power of top-tier constructed decks- a game designed for people who like playing big creatures and that hate combos. Though there is a side of Commander where people play for fun with very noncompetitive decks, there are others (myself included) that enjoy cutthroat games with highly tuned decks. It doesn't matter which style you like more. I'm leaving this open for anyone who wants to play Commander, and it can be your choice how competitively you play, just please communicate what level your deck is to your opponent(s) before you start.
Signups and Play
This is a very open league. Each person that wants to join has to submit to deck to me (Kryzis) or SirFowler for review. If it passes (which it always will as long as it's a legal deck), that is the deck they will be playing with for the entirety of the league.
You can submit an American Banlist deck and a Duel Commander deck, but not more than one of each.
As this is more of a casual league, there will be no brackets. Each person can play with as many other signed-up members (see table here) as they want, as long as all of their opponents have the same kind of deck.
It is up to you to organize your own games- there will be no brackets. It also doesn't matter on the size of your game. A Duel Commander game will always be 1v1, but American banlist can consist of 2, 3, 4, or even 5 people. As long as two or more people report from each game (with the same answer as to who won), the winner will be noted.
Rewards
This league will continue for a couple months, and at the end of that time the players with the most wins in the American Banlist category and the Duel Commander category will be given a prize.
Prize: 2 Feature Tokens
If you have any questions or concerns about the pod feel free to ask, and go and have fun with your commanders.
So i don't Understand. Have my decks been approved and just not updated on the main list? If so does that mean i can't play until my decks are officially on the list? Thanks for your help and have a great day!

It's taking a little while because Kryzis hasn't been on in 4 days or so. He didn't give me a whole lot of guidelines on what my responsibilities are for the league. I am getting brackets ready, but I am having a hard time getting everything together because there's a lot to do and I haven't been in a league before. Just have patience. It is just a game after all.
August 19, 2015 7:09 p.m.
ok, thanks for clarifying that. I was just unsure of what was going on. Once more thanks!
August 19, 2015 7:19 p.m.
I would love to join this, but alas, I have no idea how to play magic online...short of getting an mtgo account and apparently that costs money.

@NecroPony: the peoples have unofficially decided to play on the untap.in interweb site.
Create an account and hope that it will actually let you log in and play with it!
August 19, 2015 9:06 p.m.
The thing about Untap is that they are moving their information over to v2, which is making v1 mess up from time to time. I guess we could try a different site, but preferably one that's free so everyone has the chance to join.
Also, I'm not quite sure how many people should be allowed. Like should there be a cutoff for how many people play in the league? I just don't know because I've never done a league before, so I don't know what it the right choice.
August 19, 2015 9:11 p.m.
you should cut it off after brackets are even. for example: 8 players, so 4 of each side, or 16 with 8 on each side.
32 could be a nice cap for this first one, gives lots of variance, and allows a larger bracket
August 20, 2015 10:53 a.m.
Tried registering on both Untap and Untap 2.0. No luck on Untap. It said I was able to create an account on Untap v2, but when I tried logging in with my credentials, it didn't take.
What's our alternative program for playing?

I might have just missed it, but i don't understand how, when and where these games will be played. Can somebody explain this to me please?
August 20, 2015 1:33 p.m.
@NarejED Cockatrice and MTGO are the two other programs I know so far, but MTGO isn't free, so it's not a preferable choice. As for Cockatrice, I believe you need to download it and some people aren't able to due certain restrictions of either their computers or service provider. I can look up the different programs and post back here.
@Lordvalknareck What happens is each player has a choice of entering the American and/or Duel Commander banlist, which you can read in the links provided in the above description. After the deck has been approved by either me or Kryzis, we will have a bracket set up in the format for which your deck is designed. Then it is up to you arrange games by talking to the other players, setting up games, and using the program decided upon. The winner is then added to wins column. At the end of a certain period, which I believe is the end of September, we will tally up the totals and the highest number of wins gets tokens. Since there are two format banlists, we will award tokens to the winner of the American banlist and the winner of the Duel banlist.

Seems like a fun concept and I would paricipate with a more recent homebrew, if I was able to cut the deck size down to the legal 100 :P

This looks like fun. I'd like to join in, but my deck is long overdue for an update.

@jedijwk I don't see your deck list. Did you forget to make one?

Almost forgot: my deck is geared more towards casual, rather than competitive, and isn't really meant for Duel Commander.

I've found a reasonable play method using tapped out
A.) Each player has a tab with each deck open for playtesting
B.) Each player is in some form of instant messaging system to communicate
C.) Each player types out what they play E.G. Upkeep : main 1 : play a land ; plains etc.
That way the opponent may construct what your battlefield looks like
Also including what lands you are tapping for any casts.
D.) Whenever a spell is played, the opponent either responds with either : Resolves OR In Response
(of course there are spells casted in response after things resolve too, but for the rest.)
E.) at end of turn state life total and hand size

I suppose, yeah dishonesty is an unfortunate possibility
works nice for playing casually with long dist. friends at least

Sorry about my last deck input. Apparently someone else had the same deck name with different capitalization that I mis-inputted. Here is the right one.
August 22, 2015 5:54 p.m.
Lordvalknareck, that list isn't legal for duel commander. Diabolic Tutor is banned in that format.
August 22, 2015 8:58 p.m.
So is a bunch of other stuff on the list. Are you wanting to do the American Banlist instead Lordvalknareck?
August 22, 2015 10:05 p.m.
Put Diabolic Tutor when he meant Demonic Tutor.Screams internally.
August 22, 2015 10:09 p.m.
Yeah, so is Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, and Mana Vault, along with many others. I'm guessing this is meant for American banlist.
August 22, 2015 10:13 p.m. Edited.

Yeah, all those are legal in the American banlist, just not for Duel. You're good.

this may have been asked, but how competitive were you intending for this to be? i presume there would also be a dif on that between french and reg. would i be frowned at more for showing up with pheldagriff hug or 5c consistent turn 4 combo?
August 24, 2015 10:06 p.m.
Honestly, the competitiveness of the decks range anywhere from beginner to expert level, but in the end it's still a semi-casual experience. I have seen some that use the Hermit Druid combo, but it's rare to see every player running the same level of difficulty. As a group, we should determine the level of our decks before organizing games with others online. We don't want someone who just started playing edh that use just the basics to go up against someone with couple thousand dollar decks. It is up to you however to organize the games and arrange the right power levels for each game.

I'd like to get in on this. I'm US East in terms of timezone and usually use Cockatrice though I'd be willing to try Untap.in or something similar. Here's the list I'll be using - multiplayer banlist, competitive.
August 25, 2015 5:52 a.m.
@PepsiAddicted I got to be honest, I have no freakin' clue on how to make a table on this site. I read up on w3schools about how to make them, but I just can't get the hang of making tables. Am I just overthinking stuff or am I just plain stupid?
Either way, it's still taking time. Just play as you will, report to me who won, and which banlist was used and I'll have it logged.
Also, if anyone knows how to make them, please tell me. I would greatly appreciate the help.

You don't make a table on this site SirFowler. Just make a google spreadsheet as that was what was done with all the other tournaments.
Other than that, you can, you know, just use list functions. And if you need to space things out, use hyphens.
- User, deckname, format, wins.
- User, deckname, format, wins.
- Kryzis --------- The Slimy Druid of Death, Duel, 32.
- Femme_Fatale, The Unfair Girl, The Daughter of Kaalia, Any, 5.
- User, deckname, format, wins.
- User, deckname, format, wins.
- User, deckname, format, wins.
- User, deckname, format, wins.
- User, deckname, format, wins.
Or you could just link the decks in large like this:
Duel; 32

There is no need to spend time making a table really.

I actually figured out how to create the tables, so everything should be up and running before the end of the day.
August 25, 2015 1:47 p.m.
All right everybody, I have finally created an American Pod and a Duel Pod for people to check out. I don't know why I was having so much trouble, but that doesn't matter now.

Okay, I have no idea what I'm doing or how to do it! I totally don't care, this sounds fun, somebody please help explain.
My deck: Council of Artificers
I don't know how to link it, so just search it please. It's got Sydri for the commander.
August 26, 2015 2:33 p.m.
Here ya go Lonelymonster - Council of Artificers
You can create a link by doing a couple of things:
[ Name ] ( URL ), but without spaces before and after the brackets
Click 'Embed Code' on the deck and it will have the right code
Either works, but this is so you know for later use.
August 26, 2015 4:09 p.m.
I could join now, if you're using mtgo. I have that now.
Or whatever, keep me posted.
