The Deck that Steals Your Opponent's Entire Collection

Build a deck capable of transferring ownership of your opponent's entire collection of Magic cards to you.

Assume your opponent will not concede. All cards are legal. No more than 4x copies other than basic lands.

right lemme just check, you mean every magic card they own? or every card in a given deck?

Rayenous says... #3

There are no "legal" ante cards anymore... so, it just can't be done.

....but my "non-legal" way of doing it doesn't involve ante cards anyway....

Donate + Ashnod's Coupon , until he gets drunk and passes out.... you now have all his cards!

Every Magic card they own.

ALL cards are legal. Except Un-cards.

I'm not going to build a deck for it, but I'll try to work this out.

Play cards like Glittering Wish and whatnot with Hive Mind out on the field, with Charmbreaker Devils or something so over time your opponent goes and fetches his collection and puts it in his hand or wherever.

Abyssal Persecutor out on field to prevent your opponent losing the game.

Use Mindleech Mass to play cards from your opponent's hand. Make sure you ask if you can take a look at the one you want, pick it out of their hand to read it and then don't give it back.

Use Roil Elemental and/or Memnarch to steal all their permanents (preferably land), and just don't give them back either because you're a mean bugger.

And then use Eternal Dominion to play everything from each other's library. By this point your opponent may just steal YOUR cards, but eventually you'll have gotten a large amount of their collection.

so far I have this....Krazy Deck. I gather a board consisting of Research/Development and Isochron Scepter , I lock them down with Mindslaver and Academy Ruins . Get an Abyssal Persecutor out so we cant lose or win, play something like Necropotence for card draw and draw my deck. I then Donate or zedru the scepter with Research/Development on it to them as well a Deadeye Navigator and Palinchron and a Staff of Domination . This lets me take their turn with my Mindslaver and put all their cards into their deck.....not sure how to get control of non permanents though, obv I can generate inf mana and take all their stuff with Memnarch but what to do next?

how do I grab hold of instants and sorceries?

It seems you are missing the point guys. Kaley is talking about transfering OWNERSHIP, not CONTROL of cards.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr damn! lol in that case make a deck with value equal to their entire collection and trade it with them lol

Ah... when you said "All cards are legal.", I though you were saying to only use legal cards.

A deck big enough to hide a .40 Springfield XDM, unveil the gun, take cards, profit?!?!?! I don't think you can legally though, only cards in the library do ante cards work with. Wishes, even at 4 of in their library, brings in only 4 cards from outside the game.

I know how!

First! Donate or Bazaar Trader a Collector Protector .

Then Donate or Bazaar Trader an infinite mana source. (Enduring Renewal + Memnite + Phyrexian Altar )

Now you have to control the opponent turn with Sorin Markov .

Then get infinite mana and use Collector Protector until your opponent don't have any more cards!

Does this actually work?

KrazyCaley: Is it possible?

Rayenous says... #16

My deck does it.

It has an explanation of how it works.

The question is in research 'you own', since you're the one controlling the turn, wouldn't you refer to you, not the opponent, making it impossible to get the cards they own or am I looking at this too literally?

July 19, 2013 11:27 a.m.

maiden77 says... #18

good point the 'you own' bit nullifies the research/development play I put down and Rayenous

July 19, 2013 11:30 a.m.

Rayenous says... #19

In "you own", "you" is the player who is controlling the spell or ability... which is your opponent. You are simply controlling their decisions for the turn... but they are the ones casting the spell, so it's their cards that get put into their library.

Same as if you were to control them, and activate/cast something that requires a sacrifice... it's their creatures that get sacrificed, not yours.

Simple. Make some deck with some extremely convoluted and long mechanic/combo, wait until your opponent starts spacing out and snatch all their cards from right under their nose.

Rayenous has it.

There are multiple ways to do it, but they all involve variations on the same basic pattern.

Step 1 - Mindslaver + Academy Ruins lock.

Step 2 - Prevent your opponent and preferably also yourself from losing (since this procedure will take a long time) through the use of Platinum Angel or Abyssal Persecutor .

Step 3 - Donate a mechanism to your opponent whereby they can put cards they own into their deck. Rayenous used Research/Development on an Isochron Scepter . My version of this deck used Death Wish (which works since our opponent can't lose the game while we have the Angel/Persecutor out), but Research/Development is faster. Repeatedly have them add in cards until their entire collection is in the deck. Note that you will probably also need to Donate something that generates any color mana to your opponent as well.

Step 4 - Use Amulet of Quoz to convert their entire deck, which is now their entire collection, into their ante (true, we'd have to be playing with ante rules, which are now gone, but hey, that's the fun).

Step 5 - Blow up whatever thing you set up to prevent your opponent from losing.

Step 6 - Enjoy all your friend's Magic cards.

It does of course, only work in Casual format even if you pretend that Ante is still allowed, since in every constructed format, "outside the game" is only your sideboard which has a fixed size.

July 19, 2013 9:31 p.m.

RussischerZar says... #23

Well, technically (or according to tournament rules) "card you own from outside the game" is restricted to your sideboard :P

But I guess that can be overlooked here since your opponent would probably just concede (or have won already) before you can pull that off ;)
