Waif or Captive?

I have had a lot of trouble deciding whether to run Reckless Waif  Flip or Wolfbitten Captive  Flip , and I wanted some opinions on which is better for a traditional werewolf tribal. Complete alternatives are welcome as well. Thoughts?

Depends. Are you trying for a t2 Mayor of Avabruck  Flip ? If so it's not a bad idea to skew your mana towards green and doing that it will be hard for you to t1 a reckless waif.

Plus if you don't have a t2 play you can simply use his pump ability which results in a flip when you pass turn.

Go for the captive.

Thats an excellent point and I do plan on trying the captives instead of the waifs tonight at fnm. That's 0-1.

I just pulled up a rough estimate of what I might do for gruul in Gatecrash, (The card:Druid's Deliverance will be the Gruul Charms probably.)

I like Reckless Waif  Flip more. While Wolfbitten Captive  Flip and his flip-side give you more power in the late-game, Reckless Waif  Flip is just simpler, faster, and doesn't require a rather hefty supply of mana to be good.

I suppose both are alright, though. Have you tried both? Going from either one into Mayor of Avabruck  Flip , then into something like Immerwolf or Moonmist can be a lot for most decks to handle.

Reckless Waif  Flip , Mayor of Avabruck  Flip , Immerwolf , and Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip is probably the best way to curve out a Werewolf deck. And anybody who says Immerwolf is bad with the Huntmaster clearly has never played a Werewolf deck. 2 life and two 3/3 bodies for 4 mana, and now your opponent really needs to cast a spell? Awesome. And that's if you don't control Mayor of Avabruck  Flip /Howlpack Alpha  Flip  Flip.
