In this deck, First Is The Best! (An EDH First Sliver Deck) I have started to consider Averna, the Chaos Bloom as a card for mana help. Would this be a good tool, or is it unnecessary?

Hey, if you need mana help add Arcane Signet? I think mana help you add should help to cast The First Sliver since casting First is the main reason to have mana help. I don't think Averna is needed because when you can utilize it's land ability with cascade you control First Sliver.
Faeburrow Elder is good ramp especially when playing five colors to help to cast First Sliver. If you control First Sliver, Elder taps for five mana (one of each color).
You can also help Farseek as well as overall color fixing from lands by adding more lands that are two or more basic land types. Tango lands (Cinder Glade) and Snow dual lands (Rimewood Falls) are budget options. More Shock lands (Stomping Ground) or Triomes (Ketria Triome) are more expensive options. They could replace some basic lands.

It's better to just build a better mana base than rely on a creature that'll be very hard to cast on curve. I like Averna but don't think it fits here.

averna wouldn't do anything until your commander was already in play, and by then you already have 5 mana across all colors anyway. pretty much any 3 mana rock would be strictly better.

multimedia thanks for your comments! I have already added the tango lands to my maybe board except for the GB one because of Overgrown Tomb which I traded for. To replace even more basics, I am thinking about adding MDFC lands from Zendikar (ex Brightclimb Pathway Flip). Perhaps Averna is not worth it.
