Blue tribe/typal commander deck
Commander Deck Help forum

I am trying to build a blue deck for my kids that isn't very expensive. Ideally under $150. It would be competing elves(G), elemetals (R), zombies (B), and Rebels lin sivi(W) all priced about the same. Any suggestions?

Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign is another possibility. Being blue gives great value and interaction pieces, and the commander itself gives some decent ramp. Sphinxes are a powerful tribe full of versatility and minigames.

Not sure how complicated you want to go or if you're open for two colors like blue and green (Simic) I always thought sea creatures like leviathans and krakens are kind of fun with a bunch of ramp spells. Especially with Whelming Wave. If it's an EDH deck I would recommend Kenessos, Priest of Thassa as the commander. If it's just a basic mono blue deck then Merfolk is your best option. :)

I agree with DarkKiridon; I would go with ocean beasties. My Briny Deep deck has some instants and sorceries and enchantments, but it’s mostly serpents, sponges, whales, and eels. Super fun, and extremely flexible on cost!

Mono blue Morfolk seems like it would fit in with the rest. I like seshiro_of_the_orochi's suggestion with using Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign but I think that it's a grade above the rest. It would likely be the best deck with its flying big bodies and unlimited card draw.

After talking with the kids, they are torn between merfolk and kraken. I might build one of each and see what one they like better. I feel like the sphinx would be too powerful at this point between the 5 colors, however if blue falls behind too often, I will keep them in mind.
griffstick, FormOverFunction, seshiro_of_the_orochi, DarkKiridon, and legendofa thank you for your insight and help. You all are awesome.

Merfolk and Wizards have some good options.
Svyelun of Sea and Sky comes to mind for Merfolk (if you can pronounce it), and Kopala, Warden of Waves and Emperor Mihail II are also good. Merfolk tend to be tempo-based with wide attacks; they can set up with lots of tokens and land control. A particular specialty is "flooding" lands into Islands to take advantage of islandwalk.
Wizards tend to want instants and sorceries, particularly card draw and counterspells. They have more of a control focus. Naban, Dean of Iteration, Naru Meha, Master Wizard, and Azami, Lady of Scrolls all interact with other Wizards, while Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, Lier, Disciple of the Drowned, and Ertai, Wizard Adept focus more on the control angle (but are also somewhat higher budget).
