Building Simic Thrasios!

Commander Deck Help forum

I have always been a fan of cheap (low cmc) EDH generals, and want to try my hand at building a Simic deck that gets great value out of its draws featuring Thrasios, Triton Hero. Obviously Training Grounds, Heartstone, and Illusionist's Bracers are thrown in the mix.

I have considered Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar and Sages of the Anima to mix up the draw.

What else should the deck do?

You really think it should go infinite? To the point where I play the whole deck?

I think a good place to start is sort of a control shell with a few infinite mana combos, which let you draw the deck with Thrasios, then you add some instant win combo that lets you win on the spot. In my Experiment Kraj EDH deck, I run a bunch of infinite mana combos, which then let me draw the deck with Azure Mage or Blue Sun's Zenith, then win with Biovisionary + Rite of Replication . I think you could do something similiar here, except of course you replace Azure Mage with Thrasios, Triton Hero. Also, what are you thinking about for the partner? Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix would be my pick, so you can stay U/G and also have 2 combo pieces in the command zone, because Kydele + Sword of the Paruns or similiar untap card creates infinite mana.

If your plan is to set up a way to draw your whole deck you really should play Laboratory Maniac.

And here's another way of enabling that win: Future Sight + Sensei's Divining Top when you have a mana cost of artifacts reducer in play, such as Cloud Key, Helm of Awakening, or Etherium Sculptor.
