Exsanguinate or Blasphemous Edict?

Commander Deck Help forum

I have a copy of Exsanguinate in my Thraximundar EDH deck, because that is an excellent card, but I am contempaltign replacing it with Blasphemous Edict, since the newer card is an obvious choice for that deck, but, because that card is rather expensive, monetarily, I wish to ask for advice before I purchase it.

What does everyone else say, about this? Should I replace Exsanguinate with Blasphemous Edict?

I say no. The new card is so cool and flavorful. But it doesn't win games

I concur with griffstick. You already have so many ways to cause sacrifice your opponents are not going to have enough creatures on the battlefield for the alternate casting cost to benefit your commander. Unless yer playing against go-wide token decks; however, even then it's not going to make enough of a difference without evasion so you can win with Commander damage.

griffstick, Theorycraft, what about Vona's Hunger? Is that a worthy card for my deck?

DemonDragonJ, If you really want a sacrifice-based board wipe, I'd recommend Killing Wave. While Vona's Hunger does work for both the short and long game, it won't kill all the creatures. On the other hand with Killing Wave, you can sacrifice all your creatures except for Thraximundar(just eat the lifeloss) and maybe Tergrid, God of Fright  Flip, and hold the advantage on the battlefield. Happy Hunting!

TheoryCrafter, you are correct that my Thraximundar deck already has a sufficient number of ways to make my opponents sacrifice creatures, so I shall keep Exsanguinate in that deck, since that card is a very useful card to have.
