Help with deck creation for Doric
Commander Deck Help forum

I want to make a deck with Doric, Nature's Warden (Flip side: Doric, Owlbear Avenger) as my Commander and I don't really know what type for creatures I should fit in. This is for the reason, since she has no real effect besides ramp which you could build around.
If anyone has a idea for what type of creatures (and also other cards) that I could fit in, please tell me. Please also tell me if you have specific card ideas!
legendofa Thanks, yea this makes sense, just a aggro swing deck with legendary creatures. Also thanks for the suggestions on cards!

If you’re giving things deathtouch, look to trample. If you’re giving things trample, look to deathtouch. That’s where I would start.

As always legendofa has a lot of great suggestions. You have access to a lot of T1 dorks like Delighted Halfling and Llanowar Elves etc. to ensure you can reliably get Doric out by turn 3. Cards that could provide haste like Lightning Greaves or Concordant Crossroads also might be worth giving everyone at the table haste. I also use Runadi, but that only works for more expensive creatures. I think Legend makes a great suggestion in aiming for smaller legendary creatures that will be out before Doric and ready to attack. Since you need 1G every time you want to flip her, I'd go a little heavier on the ramp and T1 dorks. If you want you can always go for green anthem type effects to buff your smaller legendaries like Thunderfoot Baloth and Sylvan Anthem.

A ramp heavy legendary matters deck could really abuse Heroes' Podium. Reki, the History of Kamigawa would be another great value piece. God-Eternal Rhonas and Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus would be really good finishers. And you access to Time of Need. With enough druids, Seton, Krosan Protector seems neat.

FormOverFunction I don't really understand what you are trying to get at?
Tsukimi and seshiro_of_the_orochi Thanks for the ideas/explanations and card suggestions, they help alot in giving me some direction.

If I may answer for FormOverFunction, trample + deathtouch is a very strong combination of abilities. Since you're giving attacking legendary creatures trample with the Owlbear side, finding a way to give them deathtouch (Bow of Nylea, for example) would be a valuable force multiplier.

Ahaa okay, ya that makes sense, I just didn't understand it at first. Thanks for the explanation legendofa.

Sorry, I was out of range of the Internet for a few days. Yes, trample deals all the damage necessary to kill the creature before the rest tramples through. With deathtouch it only takes one damage, so all the rest can go through. Probably should have typed that out the first time. Thank you legendofa!!

Legendary beatdown? It should be easy to get her out on turn three for a turn 4 attack. Load up on cheap legends like Jolrael, Mwonvuli Recluse, Syr Faren, the Hengehammer, maybe Wilson, Refined Grizzly, and you have the start of a stompy deck.
Blackblade Reforged feels like a natural fit, too.
You could also ramp into bigger legendary creatures like Old Gnawbone or The Tarrasque and go for a big creature beatdown. Add some protection like Wrap in Vigor, Heroic Intervention, or Asceticism, depending on budget, and there's a deck.
I would say those are Doric's clearest strengths, ramping and face smashing, with a side of lands matter. I can't come up with anything too tricky or subtle to do with her as the centerpiece, so my suggestion is to dig into the aggro and swing hard.
