Need a Commander for my New Challenge
Commander Deck Help forum

I’ve decided to do a budget EDH challenge. Every week, I’m going to select a commander and make a deck with it that has a total cost of around $50.
This week’s challenge, since it’s the first, I let my friends select two colors I couldn’t use. They chose Red and Blue.
Please suggest commanders I should build decks around. I’d especially appreciate ones that work for this first-week challenge.
BTW, commanders have to have a price of $10 or less, preferably under $5.

Hmmm ok. Can’t do those for this first week because of my limitation, but I’ll put them on the list.

Ah. My bad, thought you had to use izzet. Not, everything except izzet.

Slimefoot can be fun. He's super cheap and plays a bit like a sleeper. Just slowly accruing saprolings until you have a critical mass and sack them all for the win or just Overrun.

Something new: Kathril, Aspect Warper
Not obscure enough? Teneb, the Harvester
Something different: Selvala, Explorer Returned

Ghoulcaller Gisa. I think this is gonna be fun on a budget. With cards like Supernatural Stamina, and Undying Evil to add some tricks.

I love the combat-trickiness of General Jarkeld, maybe you’d be able to put something fun together with him? Top-tier flavor to boot...

What about Krav, the Unredeemed and Regna, the Redeemer. This is gonna be fun to build on a budget.

For now, Gallowbraid?
For later, Lord of Tresserhorn and/or Karona, False God.

Daghatar the Adamant, or Triad of Fates are pretty underused/obscure.

To piggyback on DeinoStinkus, God-Eternal Oketra. I've made this one myself and can confirm it's potency against decks worth a few hundred dollars, while mine sits around $45. You just focus on a lot of creatures that let you bounce other creatures (Whitemane Lion is incredible).

A really cheap build could be Zuberi, Golden Feather and going for griffin tribal and then using some of the white 'overrun' effects or anthems to try and close out a game.

I like either Jhoira.
Historic cheerios would probably be the most budget friendly. Tons of 0 cost and cheap artifacts with a few cost reducers and it becomes easy to go off.
Suspend will be missing the giant Eldrazi but all of the cards that remove suspend counters are cheap and there are still plenty of high cmc good stuff in budget.
