Altair + Aurelia

I was concerned over what I had assumed to be an infinite combo with Altair and Aurelia. Using Maskwood Nexus, I was able to exile Aurelia, The Warleader with a memory counter on her, then return a token copy of her to the battlefield tapped and attacking. Her ability states that when she attacks, I get another combat phase, thus giving me infinite attack phases with Altair's ability. But something doesn't sit right with me and I just want to know what the proper ruling on this matter is.

If I understand correctly, a creature or creature token entering the battlefield “tapped and attacking” does not trigger “whenever [this creature] attacks” abilities, due to rules terminology shenanigans that cause “enters tapped and attacking” to be different from choosing the creature as one of your attackers during the combat step.

If I am incorrect on this, I would love some clarification, myself.

You are correct pinecone2k3. Attack triggers phrased "whenever ~ attacks" happen if the creature is declared as an attacker during the declare attackers phase, but don't happen if something enters tapped and attacking.

From the MtG Wiki page on Combat:

506.3a If an effect would put a noncreature permanent onto the battlefield attacking or blocking, the permanent does enter the battlefield but it’s never considered to be an attacking or blocking permanent.
