Hi guys, My The Gitrog Monster deck is listed as not EDH legal because it contains Amulet of Quoz (1c artifact that lets your permanents ETB untapped). This is not listed as a banned card on the official EDH site, so I'm wondering if this is a glitch, or I'm missing something (and if the former, how can we rectify it)? Cheers, D

GhostChieftain, actually the ante rule was just discontinued because people didn't enjoy it or play with it, and it made the game generally less pleasant.

Oh god, what a dumbass! Sorry guys, my version of the card is foreign, and I remembered it as Quoz because...I like silly words! Should I delete this stupid time-wasting post, or should I leave it as an eternal monument to my dumbassery?

All cards with "ante" are banned. It gets into legal issues so they are not allowed in officially sanctioned events.

Maybe you meant Amulet of Vigor ? That is good to go.

ZendikariWol actually the ante rule was just discontinued because it was seen as a potential gambling law infringement ;)

That makes sense. That said, MaRo mentioned it in one of his blogs. People in the early days apparently just got to the table and said "No ante?" "No ante."
The rule was made in the first place because WotC assumed people wouldn't be buying new cards and wanted the players to acquire them somehow (to retain variance in gameplay), so they conceived Ante as a solution. Seeing as players bought vastly more cards than WotC would have dreamed in the beginning, Ante proved to be both unpopular and unnecessary.

You want Amulet of Vigor not Amulet of Quoz . All of the ante cards are banned in everything but kitchen table because it is too similar to gambling.
