Back From 6 Monthish Break, Whats New?

Commander (EDH) forum

I just got back from Basic Training recently and I've be trying to feel out some of what was released while I was gone and grasp what is coming out now in terms of Magic Origins and the rest of the Khans block. I was here for Khans of Tarkir but left just as Fate Reforged started to spoil. I mainly play EDH, so I was hoping you guys could let me know what, if anything is impacting the average EDH playing field from these most recent sets. I am curious about the impact on other formats if anything major happened, but I'm mostly concerned about the all mighty eternal format.

I've gone over the spoiler pages to see the complete list of what came out, but I'd like to see how you guys feel they have changed things.

Scion of the Ur-Dragon decks got a lot of neat new toys, including Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury, Silumgar, the Drifting Death, Atarka, World Render, Dragonlord Dromoka, Dragon Tempest, Haven of the Spirit Dragon, and a whole lot more. Dragons frickin' everywhere, man.

Dear god... I didn't even think of that... As if the Moltensteel Dragon + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon wasn't scary enough.

The only new dragon that's really relevant for Scion is Silumgar, the Drifting Death, as he is now the second dragon with hexproof in existence.

Archangel of Tithes is solid in or commander.

Kolaghan's Command should be in pretty much every or commander deck. Get back Grave Titan and destroying Coat of Arms? Seems good to me.

Crux of Fate is the boardwipe of choice for Dragon Tribal now.

Narset Transcendent shuts down unprepared decks, meaning a lot of casual decks. Her ultimate won't help much against pure creature decks though.

If you're playing Temur then Sarkhan Unbroken is card draw and can rip all the dragons out of the deck.

Shaman of the Great Hunt is awesome in 5 color beat down decks. The card draw is very good since it can easily become pay 4 draw 3+ which out classes Divination.

Soulfire Grand Master can buyback your Cryptic Command or Swords to Plowshares for the best type of control.

While it's very slow Alhammarret's Archive goes great with Oloro, Ageless Ascetic or Zedruu the Greathearted.

There is yet again another card to combo with Splinter Twin. This time it's Bounding Krasis.

Golgari has a new toy with Evolutionary Leap.

Karador really likes Evolutionary Leap as well.

Doran likes Assault Formation.

Oh last card, and this one might actually cause things to go topsy turvey, is Day's Undoing. Presuming you weren't able to cycle enough to kill everyone in 1 turn with Nekusar, the Mindrazer this card can give you another turn to cycle as much as you can with all the wheel and ritual spells.

Awesome guys thank you. This will be very helpful when updating my decks. Actually got a lot of new stuff to contend with now.
