I'm looking for a box to open with a couple of my friends, but I can't decide which. My budget is up to 200 bucks, and so far the sets that have caught my eye are Commander Legends or Battlebond. I'm looking for fun cards for commander, but also a set that has valuable cards (sorry Dragon's Maze). So what should I get?

Battlebond isn't new cards so that's the only thing that's bad about it. But drafting 2headed giant is fun. My vote is for battlebond

Conspiracy, battlebond and commander legends are all great sets.

Though I will say that commander legends tics all your boxes. Though I do not reccomend drafting it with less than 8 people. Or if you draft it with 4 draft 6 packs each.

IDK, RNR_Gaming, I drafted CMR with 7 people, and we split into one game of 3 of us and one with 4, and my 3-player pod's game lasted almost the entire 3 hours that we set aside... (Nymris v Reyav v Kangee, if anyone cares)

Omniscience_is_life you're seeing enough cards with 7 people. I drafted it with 3 and it was a fun experience but the colors were very determined for a lack of a better word.

My play group did a draft with Commander Legends. We are mostly commander players and it was fun. With the wide variety of Commanders to chose from, it was a good time with some challenge. FYI It seemed the white cards were the least drafted.

Whatever you do, have some fun. That's the reason I enjoy playing.

Between the two, I think Battlebond is probably a better drafting experience. I drafted CMR with 3 people and it was OK, but the quality of commander pulls really over-determined the matches - one player had two mythic partners and even with an average deck, commanders make that too much value. And I was competing with a two-rare Pirate partner synergy deck, so it's not like my card quality was terrible.

Battlebond also has slightly more value on average, it looks like, because it has similar high-value hits and those lands are each $10+ compared to CMR lands at ~$5.

However, it's almost double the price, so YMMV. Worth noting it's 24 packs in CMR vs 36 in Battlebond, though.
