Hey, everyone! So, I've finally convinced my friends to play commander which means I need to get a deck. We all agreed to only spend around $20 - $30 on our decks so I've come here to get your opinions on what commander I should run. Some of the generals I've been considering are Daretti, Scrap Savant, Momir Vig, Simic Visionary, Ezuri, Claw of Progress, Mizzix of the Izmagnus, Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, and Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius. What do you think?

Talrand, Sky Summoner and Purphoros, God of the Forge are cheap and effective commanders

Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, she's considered t1 in French commander, and you'll find deck lists on here from $20 to a couple thousand. You'll be happy with a commander that you can upgrade over time, because the more you guys play, the higher you're playgroup will set the bar. Pick a commander that can be both budget and competitive

You can get a lot of the older precon decks for about $30 at Walmart/Target.

I'd say just go for Talrand, Sky Summoner with as many cheap counters you can find, and some bounce and other controlley things, and Voila! You got yourself a strong, budget deck.

I already have both the Ezuri and Mizzix precons so I think I'll tweak one of them with the $20. Which one do you guys think I should update?

Ezuri. Don't do infect, not a fun way to introduce you're friends to commander

mizzix is easier to upgrade. also i would think spending thirty dollars on a pre con and than upgrading would totally break budget.

Well, we said we could use cards in our collection, so...

Lmao, than see what cards you already have! For most players that would end up with a couple hundred dollar deck.

It seems like without Ezuri or Mizzix in play, the decks don't really do anything. Am I analyzing this wrong or is it okay at casual levels?

I'd suggest buying one of the pre-con EDH decks. I'd vote you give Ezuri (G/U) a go and then tweak it over time to your preferences.
