Calling all Grand Arbiter Players

Commander (EDH) forum

I just finished making an extensive post about Arbiter in competitive EDH. Link to post.

If you consider yourself qualified to talk on that thread, please reply. Otherwise, I'd appreciate replies by those unfamiliar with competitive EDH here.

I know this forum frowns upon deck lists, but I think an example list is both important and relevant to the topic at hand. I'm also not promoting for exposure or whoring for points. Example list here.

Where is TLDR my friend ? ;D If your cEDH frequency is a thing you can try playing via webcam. That is imho way better than cockatrice and coFirst combo: Better use the dude that makes your artifacts 1 cheaper, Ethereal Usher. First one gets you to 1 mana before starting with top not 3 (slow af nonetheless)

I would consider Memory jar because it sometimes can be fantastic value. I tried hard to think of any combo that might fit to arbiter but I failed :/

It's always interesting what other players make with Augustin, especially what the actual win cons in their decks are. If you go for the Staff of Domination trick I would also consider Memory Jar and Metalworker if you feel like you have enough artifacts to use it reliably.

I play Augustin as Stax, basically because that always was my preferred deck type in vintage and legacy and both formats are not really present here around. I use Metalworker there as a mana source because of the high artifact density so the staff combo is not the main reason for having it there. If you are interested, you can find that list on my profile.

Metalworker's not consistent enough in this list unfortunately. As for stax, teferi does that much better. Going for the true stax Arbiter build works very well at most tables, but it fails to break parity efficiently enough to work in cEDH. I much prefer the hybrid build.

Do you have an example of what a perfect Teferi list would look like in your opinion? I'm not going to switch to Teferi because our shopkeeper plays him (and it's not nearly as strong as my augustin deck already is, so making a more oppressive teferi deck than his is a sort of asshole move) but I'd like to know what sort of classic stax elements you think are best used in mono U. I guess it's probably a sort of stasis thing with keeping everything tapped and all that stuff.

Go on YouTube and in the subtitles of the lab maniacs videos (many with teferi) you find the list used. Super fun deck imho.

Ok thought I won't be lazy so here is the link :http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/chain-veil-teferi/

If it is well built and piloted (like this deck) cvt can switch incredibly fast from Combo to Stax or vice versa. I play a budget version of it (without mana drain, time twister and tabernacle) myself and I really enjoy the consistency. You have so many tutors and quite decent answers to fast decks and when you are able lock the table your opponents are completely screwed (on the other hand winning t3 can also happen if you have a good starting hand)
