Feldon of the Snow Path

So while looking at EDHREC at Feldon of the Third Path as a Commander, I noticed the only basic land suggested was a Snow-Covered Mountain and I cannot clearly see why that would be suggested over a basic Mountain. Can someone explain what the benefit is?

You can use a card like Extraplanar Lens to exile a snow land so the rest tap for double while hopefully no one else is using snow mountain lands in their deck so they won’t Get any benefit.

I guess that's a way to ramp in red. Seems hokey though hah but what do I know

Paeldroth it’s not a necessity for the deck especially since the lens has gotten pricy over time. Some people also just like the full art snow lands from modern horizons. I’d say just use normal basic lands unless you really want to try for snow lands worth Lens.

Cards like Caged Sun and Gauntlet of Power do similar things. You can also use Koth the hammer in red for good ramp.

I’d say since you are doing a Feldon deck then Solemn Simulacrum and Burnished Hart can even be used for ramp by making tokens from them out of your graveyard.

Joe_Ken_ 100% agreed and in fact I think the creatures are more synergistic than the lens. I was really wondering I was missing since EDHREC normally suggests basics instead of Snow lands.

Thermopod comes to mind as value for Feldon of the Third Path but you still wouldn't need to have a snow covered.

maybe its just to max value Blood Moon haha!

I'm very curious to find out the answer

rubix215 I really could not find any symmetry in snow cards when I browsed gatherer. I think I'd need to check out some cEDH decks for Feldon to see what could be happening there.
