Finding Graveyard Theme Commanders.
Commander (EDH) forum

When I opened my first m20 booster pack, I pulled a Cavalier of Night . My first thought was putting it in a graveyard recursion/graveyard EDH theme deck. I never actually owned one in paper, so I was considering making one. Currently I would like the colors in Golgari or mono Black. Some commanders I considered were, Isareth the Awakener , Varina, Lich Queen , and Tasigur, the Golden Fang . Yes I know Tasigur includes blue, but still this commander is great. I know there are a lot more, and am hoping for some people to come by and suggest a few, graveyard gimmick, or recursion theme EDH commanders. Currently I do not have the budget for Meren or Ghoulcaller Gisa .
As mentioned by zelian12, to get maximum bang for buck with this card you're probably going to want give yourself access to white (though I don't think that it does work with Fiend Hunter ) as there are a lot of good reanimation targets in white.
Ghave, Guru of Spores is not bad as he provides a sac outlet on the commander. Karador, Ghost Chieftain is one of the go-to reanimator decks. You could also look into Teysa, Orzhov Scion if you didn't want green (but who doesn't want to run Saffi Eriksdotter ?).

I think that Savra, Queen of the Golgari is actually a super awesome budget replacement for the pricier dudes. Storrev, Devkarin Lich is also great in this regard.

Storrev, Devkarin Lich is less expensive price, less powerful Meren.
Giving you access to your graveyard for recursion is good with sac outlets and self-mill. Bonus is she can recur Planeswalkers which Meren can't. Storrev can also be a threat to do Commander damage since half of her ability relies on you doing damage to an opponent. Having trample helps her to connect while also making her a good target to pump. Playing creatures such as Cavalier of Night can help to clear the way for her to attack an opponent.

Chainer, Dementia Master is solid for mono-black graveyard stuff, and won't completely break the bank.

Hey guys thx for the suggestions. Here are my top choices. Ghave, Guru of Spores and Chainer. THe only thing I didnt mention in the description was I wanted slight aristocracy.

Honestly the graveyard commanders I've had the most luck with are Muldrotha, the Gravetide and Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire . You also might want something like Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest for sac effects.

Hey, all you really need is Lifeline and Leyline of the Void or just run Anafenza, the Foremost as your commander. Because the Oracle says lifeline works for the entire table.

If you want to sacrifice for value, I highly recommend Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest . Since he provides neither sacrifice nor recursion by himself, I think he’s often underestimated. Provide the sacrifice ( Butcher of Malakir , Xathrid Demon , Sidisi, Undead Vizier ), the reanimation ( Hell's Caretaker , Journey to Eternity Flip, Sheoldred, Whispering One ), and tokens to buff ( Mycoloth , Korozda Guildmage , Pentavus ), and he can do some work. Better than Meren, Muldrotha, or Karador? Probably not, but possibly more interesting.

Also Entomb + Reanimate or any other 1 or 2 drop reanimation spell causes some real anguish on your opponents. Dropping a high cost creature turn 2 is rude.
Sheoldred, Whispering One being my personal favorite for turn 2 tom foolery.

Hey guys thx for all helping. Here are my final choices. Ghave, Guru of Spores and Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest . I personally like Ghave, he has sac outlet, and can overrun your opponents with tokens or sac all of them to win with Commander/Voltron damage.

If you have a sac outlet, it goes infinite with Saffi Eriksdotter or Fiend Hunter
