How Can I Build Kenrith/Artifact Deck?
Commander (EDH) forum

I have just started building a new deck with Kenrith, The Returned King as my commander. I have looked at other ideas on how people usually make a Kenrith deck, but I want to be different. I am hoping to find good help and knowledge as this is the first deck I will be making after time away.
My intention with this deck is to be mean to my opponents. Any artifacts that provide value or combo with Kenrith are needed. I have a budget between $300-$500.
I was with you until you said “I want to be mean to my opponents”
What does that mean?
Do you want them to suffer boring long games that never end, until they choose to stop playing with you? Stretch your budget and build a really staxy deck with
Winter Orb
and
Wasteland
effects.
By “mean” do you just mean you want to be playing more of a control/battlecruiser deck where you get to smack opponents with some creatures but also spend time removing and countering major threats? If this is your preference then building is going to be half the fun. Mock up some decks and play test using tools like cockatrice and making some proxies before you sink money into it, but build and refine a cool little deck.
Or by “mean”, do you just want to upset people? If you just wanna annoy your LGS with pet peeves, your deck is gonna get real whacky. I have one friend who HATES getting targeted with
Magister Sphinx
, another who hates losing to OTK’s, many who hate land destruction, etc. none of those peeves really line up with each other into a linear “piss everyone off game plan” and if you try to do something like that, you’ll end up with a very janky deck that’s trying to do too much, and you’ll lose friends to boot.
I don’t mean this in a mean or rude way but... maybe play around a bit first and figure out exactly what you want a deck to do first, then come back to ask for help making it do that.

DuTogira What I think I am looking for is a strong deck that wins fast. And the route that I’m thinking is proliferate and extra turns

My Torture! deck might be closer to what you’re talking about than the full-on Winter Orb drudgery. I really enjoy punishing people who use cards that make the game easier (searching / shuffling / etc). Mine is a torture theme, and you’re free to get some ideas from there, but if you loosen up on theme I bet you’ll find all kinds of fun stuff!!

Just put Mycosynth Lattice and Null Rod in it, and hardcore tutor for both.

DarkMagician, obviously the board state should be neutral when it plops.
5 colors provide a lot of wrath effects

you just want to torture people into quitting ?
1st. Take 0rcs suggestion to load up your deck with mana loops and tutors
2nd. use the endless mana to cast your commander and draw your deck
3rd. Cast
Isochron Scepter
Imprinting
Silence
and then cast
Unwinding Clock
and any sacrifice creature outlet
4th. end step clean up keep
Teferi's Protection
,
Riftsweeper
,
Cyclonic Rift
, and 4 counter spells, make the last card you discard
Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
to reset the deck
use
Isochron Scepter
/
Silence
&
Unwinding Clock
to lock them out of the game
if they try to respond to silence being put on the stack counter there response
if you cant counter there response cast
Teferi's Protection
then at your next turn
Cyclonic Rift
to undo all there accomplishments
then cast
Riftsweeper
to reset
Teferi's Protection
rinse repeat only difference now is if you need to reset
Teferi's Protection
just sac
Riftsweeper
then use kenny to put him back before you draw your deck
tada now your an asshole :)

GodKing98 proliferate + extra turns is going to be a pretty cookie-cutter “superfriends” deck, as it’s called. I’d recommend looking into that as inspiration for the deck you’re building

little over kill
but you could add another layer of protection by adding
Pull from Eternity
to get
Riftsweeper
back if it gets exiled
and
Firestorm
so that you can reset your deck at instant speed in case someone tries to make you draw while your deck is empty
that should be enough layers to answer anything

Ramble 0rc I like your thinking. What other cards do you think would work well in a deck like that? I was thinking a combo with Memnarch / Mycosynth Lattice could also work.
March 29, 2021 1:05 p.m.
Memnarch
works all by itself. It doesnt need a combo
But if we are going to combo it again key here is infinite mana and kenny
Draw your deck
Drop
Dread Summons
for 100
Then use kenny to return all the creatures to the battlefield
Then drop
Memnarch
and take them all
At this point you can use kenny to get haste and swing out, or drop
Struggle / Survive
to keep them in the game
As for what to put.. when kenny first came out i built an infinite of infinite deck
That literally did everything
I could draw cast my entire deck, loop cast everyone elses decks, loop force everyones lands into battlefield then turn them into creatures and take them, destory the Boardstate shuffle all the grave yards back, then cast it all again, take, sac, return other peoples creatures.. it literally did everything infinitely

Sorry was interrupted
While tuning it the deck started going off on turn 4 and i stopped playing it becouse when you torture your play group that badly , that consistently, and that fast... you end up not having a playgroup lol
I dont play or advertise any of it becouse i have also built 5 edh decks that consistently turn 1 and kenny is a key in 3 of them
right now the world is convinced that
Thrasios, Triton Hero
is the best commander and im ok with it, becouse if they discovered what kenny can do he would be banned.

Ramble I like all of that. What are the best artifact infinite mana combos? I would like it to remain artifact themed. I am creating this deck through the tapped out app. What is the ideal amount of counter spells and tutors needed for this? or is it based on preference? Also, do I really need creatures for this such as Blightsteel Colossus ? I only have it in my deck because it’s cool to have.
March 29, 2021 6:29 p.m.
blightsteel wont work because he only shuffles himself
you want something that shuffles the entire graveyard into your library that can be triggered when you discard
the key to consistency is redundancy
the least amount of redundancy for early game is 15 copys
example
Grim Monolith
+
Zirda, the Dawnwaker
+
Prismite
you will need 14 other cards that can perform like
Grim Monolith
example:
Basalt Monolith
14 other cards that can reduce the activation
and 14 other cards that can color correct
now you cant always find or afford that many that's were tutors come in
if you find 8 cards that can color correct and 7 cards that can tutor any one of them you have the 15 minimum
downside is tutors put you 1 turn behind in casting the combo
but this is the only way to make it consistent

p.s. by early game i mean 15 copy's to have a 75% chance to have on turn 1

Easy. Just put every artifact-based infinite mana combo in the deck that makes colored mana (dramatic / scepter will work well for colored mana) then dump in all of the black and blue tutors, incl reshape etc. include tons of colored mana rock sources (moxes, lotuses, etc.) powerful countermagic. Cheap removal. And voltron one-shot opponents with Guy-in-chair :)
