...in the ever-expanding Magic: the Gathering universe, would you rather follow Tergrid, God of Fright Flip or the Spirit of the Night ? I’m wondering if my witch deck should get an upgrade...

Yeah, it’s one I the decks I made during the past year. Heavy on theme, both in effects and art: Ladies (Coven) Night A restriction like that can be a lot of fun; perfect excuse to look at EVERY card you own ;p I was hoping for more from the Strixhaven set, but so far there have been only a couple of candidates. As I’ve said before, super loose (and sort of ineffective) decks like this make spoiler time a lot more fun!

If you are doing goofy tribal check with your playgroup. They may be ok with you using a non-legendary creature as your commander.
For example Before we had tiny bones I built skeleton tribal with Champion of Stray Souls as a commander.
I also once attempted crocodile tribal with Emperor Crocodile at the helm.
Most of these cards aren't very good or broken so the table is usually fine with it. Might be could to use something like Witch of the Moors as your commander. It would be super on theme and give you a focus to build around. Or go for something less powerful like the new Sedgemoor Witch still would be fun to be around but without hating on opponents boards.
All that said most witches should have some sort of evil entity that they summon or worship, so while not the strongest I would stick with Spirit of the Night.

wich witch sandwich flavor
i would want a demon general.
That would bestfit the lore of witches.

Vilis, Broker of Blood , blood sacrifice to a demon to gain knowledge seems witchy

I like Spirit of the Night ’s art more but I think Tegrid, God of Fright is the better card. If you build around it of course.
